Kings Emergency Notification System

It’s getting to be that time of the year when the potential for bad weather is upon us. In case of inclement weather and possible school closings or delays, we will use our School Messenger All-Call System to notify parents and staff.

The District will conduct a test call on Wednesday, December 11. Please be sure that your FinalForms account is up to date. That information goes directly into our School Messenger system. If you would like to receive text messages, text yes to 67587 to opt-in.

Additionally, keeping your student's FinalForms account current with emergency contact numbers is important, especially going into cold and flu season, to allow for parents to be contacted in case of a student's illness at school. View our Illness Guidelines for reference.

Social Media is also a great way to get information. For the most up-to-date school closing information, check our websiteFacebook PageTwitter, and Instagram

Kings Athletics Signing Day

Kings High School Athletics is proud to announce the signing of five more seniors who will continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level next year. The signing ceremony took place on Wednesday, December 4 at Kings High School, and was a celebration of both athletic and academic achievement.

We commend these student-athletes for their dedication and leadership both on the field and in the classroom, as well as their positive impact on the Kings community. Their commitment to building a Championship Culture at Kings High School deserves recognition.

The athletes who signed are:

Kage Payne - Football - North Carolina State University

Nate Lyman - Football - Eastern Michigan University

Kato Meissner - Football - Bucknell University

Tommy Clark - Basketball - Bellarmine University

Aidan Thomas - Soccer - Otterbein University

These athletes join a group of outstanding individuals who signed last month:

Ava Davidson, Natalia Brignoni, Vivian Isaacs, Caroline Bobo, Elaina Emerson, and Maeve Ruble.

We congratulate all of these talented athletes and wish them continued success as they embark on the next chapter of their athletic and academic journeys!

Kings Bus Count Week #2

We want to remind all families that December 9-13 is count week for our transportation department.

Kings receives funding from the state of Ohio based in part on each student that rides the bus during this period. Last year, Kings received $376 for each student who rode during count week.

We encourage our students to ride next week if they plan to ride throughout the year!

New Mason Mural with Kings Influence

The Rotary Club of Mason and Deerfield Ohio sponsored a mural in downtown Mason titled - Building Goodwill and Better Friendships. The mural has been in the works for several months.

Local Artist David Uy and his team of interns which included Kings High School junior, Bridget Ries and a Mason High School student brought to life the beautiful design by Kings Mills Elementary Art teacher, Jenna Hudson.

Bridget assisted in the entire process of installing a community mural, including seeking city and community approvals and transferring the mural design to the building. She is interested in mural art so she is thankful for this experience.

The mural was dedicated in a small ceremony on Wednesday, December 4. The mural is located on the side of the Subway Restaurant building at 107 West Main Street in Mason. It is bright and beautiful and will surely make you smile when you drive by! Take a look!

Kings Teacher Named to KI Hall of Fame

Congratulations to J.F. Burns Elementary 4th grade teacher, Dave DeVore who was recently named to the Kings Island Hall of Fame!

Last week, at the opening night of Kings Island's Winterfest, three seasonal associates were inducted into the permanent Kings Island Hall of Fame, with Mr. DeVore being one of them.

He was presented with a crystal plaque and invited to do the tree lighting ceremony, dine in the international restaurant, and enjoy the park with his guests on the night of December 16.

Mr. DeVore has been working at Kings Island for 20 seasons. He started in the Park Services department in 2005 and currently works in the Food and Beverage Division. Over the years he has been promoted to the position of Operations Supervisor, the highest position for seasonal associates.

DeVore said, "I have always appreciated the relationship Kings Local shares with Kings Island. Over the years I have worked with many former students and have always enjoyed seeing Kings families at the park."

KJH Students Meet with SHP Architect

This week marked an exciting milestone for the 7th-grade students in the Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Architecture class at Kings Junior High, as they welcomed a special guest, Vern Hendrickson, Vice President of Technology from SHP Leading Design.

This esteemed firm is at the forefront of designing the new Kings High School, and Vern’s visit brought an incredible opportunity for students to dive into the innovative design process firsthand. From learning about scaling and rendering programs to exploring sun paths and generative design, the students were fully immersed in the creative aspects of architecture.

PLTW teacher, Sara Nicholls, said, "This was a great real-world partnership as these students will be utilizing the new building!" This collaboration not only reinforces the importance of community engagement in education but also ignites a sense of anticipation and pride among students, knowing that their learning will directly impact their future environment.

KME 1st Grade STEAM Challenge Winner

Kings Mills Elementary first grader, Nolia Dougherty, won the annual pumpkin tower STEAM challenge in Mrs. Shepherd's class.

The challenge was to build the tallest tower out of hashtag blocks that could support a candy pumpkin. Nolia's initial tower was 11 inches tall. She made adjustments to that tower twice to ultimately get it to reach 12 inches.

Mrs. Shepherd said, "It looks like we may have a future engineer at KME!"

Digital Flyers

In an effort to be "green," the District does not send paper flyers home. We use a platform called Peachjar that houses flyers of community programs and resources.

Parents receive approved flyers via email, and they are posted on our digital flyerboard for easy retrieval. Any organization can distribute information to our community by creating an account!
