Bishop Montgomery's application for the 2021-22 school year are now available.

The first part of the application requires the student and parent(s) to create an account in our admissions portal. This allows applicants to go back and check application status as the application is processed. (Please make a note of username and password for future log-in ease.)

The next step is to complete an online portion that requests student data, short essays (by the student), letter of request for admission (by the parents/guardians), and an application fee. Once this first part is submitted online, the student is automatically registered for the HSPT at Bishop on either Saturday, January 23 or Saturday, February 6, 2021. (Student will choose desired date on the application.)

The last step of the online application consists of forms for the student's current school. These forms include a Release of Records (permission for the current junior high/middle school to send transcripts, standardized test scores, etc. to BMHS), English and Math teacher evaluations, and principal/administrator evaluation (for disciplinary and financial clearance). Students need to request all of these supporting documents electronically, so it important to have the most current email addresses of math and English teachers, principal and school registrar (or equivalent staff member) ready.

Early Application Deadline (reduced application fee $60): Thursday, December 10, 2020.
Regular Application Deadline (regular application fee $80): Tuesday, January 12, 2021.

All applications received by January 12 will be given first-round admissions consideration. Applications received after January 12 will be considered on a rolling basis, as space allows.
We welcome the opportunity to meet with you via Zoom or over the phone and answer any questions you might have about Bishop Montgomery and admissions process. You're also welcome to invite other prospective families you know to join you, but if you want to keep it one-on-one, we're up for that, too.

We want to stay connected and make sure you have all of the information you need, especially during this unique time in the high school search and admissions processes.

We invite all 6th, 7th and 8th grade prospective families to take a moment and share a little about yourself so we can get to know you. Please use this link to complete our Bishop Montgomery inquiry form if you haven't already. Doing so will ensure that you are in the loop, on your game, and the first to know when new events open up and new information becomes available.

And, you have our promise that all of your information stays at Bishop Montgomery-- we NEVER share with outside or third parties.
This fall, as BMHS continues with 100% remote learning, our students work daily with their teachers via Zoom. Four days a week (except Wednesdays, see below), they follow a regular Period 1-6 schedule. Google Classroom, other online learning resources, a dedicated faculty, and a well-vetted 1:1 Chromebook program has made this adjustment to online learning almost seamless.

Over the summer, when the start of school mandated online learning, Bishop purposefully added a Community Day to the weekly schedule-- a day full of opportunities for campus-wide faith-building, social engagement, mental health and well-being, and academic support. Each Wednesday, after checking in with their first period teacher for attendance, announcements, and morning prayer, students have a flex schedule to work on asynchronous (independent) class assignments, visit teachers during our standing 9:30-11:30am office hours, participate in prayer experiences, attend virtual club meetings and fun ASB-sponsored events, join mental health workshops hosted by our Choices personal counseling department, as well as other workshops including college essay-writing and navigating high school during the pandemic.

As all of us continue to navigate this uncertain time with our students and their families, we work to maintain structure, dependability, comfort, and connection within our community. We also remain committed to upholding Bishop Montgomery standards in the classroom each day and bring value to the learning experience.

Students and Faculty Share Gratitude at School-Wide Thanksgiving Mass
Each Wednesday, our Community Day provides many opportunities for students and faculty to come together and celebrate what makes Bishop such an amazing and unique school, especially outside of the classroom. Our most recent Community Day included a school-wide Thanksgiving liturgy via Zoom with over 900 students, faculty, and staff in attendance. The Mass was made extra special by its presider-- our very own BMHS alumnus Fr. Raymont Medina '03-- and included a gratitude video (click on photo at left), created by our Campus Ministry students.
New STEAM Facilities Now Complete
Bishop's new Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Media facilities are finished, and we can’t wait to welcome our Knights back to campus and into these new spaces! Our new engineering lab/maker space, robotics studio with competition field, PC lab, eSports room, World Languages lab, and dedicated digital arts/Mac lab are ready and waiting for on-campus instruction to resume.

Principal Jim Garza envisioned these facilities when he assumed leadership at BMHS in 2018. With an eye on 21st century skill development, as well as college and career readiness, he wanted flex spaces on campus that supported STEAM learning. The educational benefits of these new areas, in combination with Bishop's steadfast focus on faith formation, help prime our students to be both technologically savvy and prepared for the next chapter of their lives, and also use that knowledge to be stewards of faith in the ever-changing world before them.
Annual Christmas Adopt-a-Child Collection Goes Global
Each year, our Concordia Service Club collects and packages gifts for children in Mexican orphanages and this year, despite the COVID pandemic, was no different. During carefully timed intervals, students and faculty dropped off new clothing and shoes for 80 children, ranging in age from toddler to teen, in BMHS' Chapel. "It was the most beautiful expression of pure love and selflessness anyone could ask for this holiday season," said Concordia Moderator Laura Fabbri. "These little children deserve everything. We are so happy to send them Christmas joy."
Athletic and Performance Conditioning Resumes on Campus
Following CIF and LA County health guidelines, our athletes and musical performers have begun conditioning on weekday afternoons. Limited to small cohorts, students practice with teammates while donning masks and maintaining a minimum six feet of social distance. Despite the parameters, students are thrilled to be back at BMHS, as are the coaches and staff. Athletic Trainer and alumna Jamie Kamiya-Haagsma '00 notes that "it's like seeing family members who you haven't seen in months. There's an energy that the kids bring with them-- their teammates and friends feed off it and so do we. We've missed them."
Bishop's eSports Team Takes 2nd in California Tournament
BMHS' League of Legends digital gaming team captured second place in the Play VS Spring Major, bringing home not only serious street cred, but also a prize package any school would love-- fee credits for the 2020-2021 season. Due to the COVID pandemic, eSports is the only CIF-sanctioned sport with athletes who are currently competing in a "typical" season.
Bishop Montgomery is thrilled to have been voted 2020's "Best High School" by the Easy Reader and "Best Private High School" by the Daily Breeze, both for the second year in a row! These awards follow recognition as one of Newsweek's 2020 Top 100 STEM schools and's ranking as #3 Most Diverse Private High School in California.

Often referred to as one of the South Bay's best kept secrets, we are thrilled to be celebrated as a community of well-rounded students who pursue excellence across each of our four pillars-- faith formation, academic merit, athletic distinction,
and social development. Want to know why? Click here to find out!
