Recent Events
Hispanic Family Retreat
La Mesa Redonda held a very successful family retreat with well over 100 total attendees and an agenda of speakers who explored the concept of Building the Domestic Churc h. Families enjoyed talks from Fr. Rafael Hinojosa, Seminarian Juan C Ponce and Christian Valdez about family dynamics and how the sacraments play an important role in family life and educating our children by example. On Sunday Fr. Arturo Bazan explained how the armor of God applies to the Sacrament of Marriage as one of two sacraments of vocation. T he food was delicious, the music was uplifting and the faith was strong. Congratulations on a very successful first major event as the Mesa Redonda! It was truly inspirational.
Knights Family Mass
Knights and their families filled the pews for the Knights Family Mass this weekend. Father Carl, soon to be our Co-Chaplain, lead a special Consecration of the Holy Family prayer asking for support of all families as we do 'our work, and [are] generous toward those in need'.
Rosary for Brother Knights
The Knights partnered with the Catholic Daughters of America to hold special rosary for Dick and Lindy Epp and Rick Baumgart at the start of the Knights Family Picnic.
Knights Family Picnic
Beautiful weather, great food, fun games, a rosary, the Soccer Challenge, fun music and a great collection of St Michael and St Charles parishioners made for a wonderful afternoon at Monsignor Adams Field on Sunday after the Knights Family Mass. Thank you to all who helped make the event such a success! All of these photos are member-password (FaithInAction) protected.
Soccer Challenge Champions
A dozen youth came out to compete in the Soccer Challenge this year! The Champions photo to the left shows the winners.: Alfred S. Perez-Camero won the 9-year old boys’ division. Melanie Escamilla was the 10-year-old girls’ champion. In the 11 year-olds’ bracket, Donovan Torres was the boys’ champion. Twelve-year-old winner in boys’ divisions was Abraham Garcia. The 13 -year-old boys’ division was won by Michael Vieira. Fourteen-year-old boys’ bracket champion was Nicholas Carrano. These council champions move on to the district level competition on 9/29, being hosted by the Livermore Knights on Monsignor Adams Field. These photos are member-password (FaithInAction) protected.
Supporting our Seminarians
The Knight delivered contributions to help our seminarians as they continue their studies. Checks were Juan Carlos Ponce and Candelaria Jimemez after Friday morning mass. Nathaniel Mayne's mother, Annette, accepted his check on Sunday at the 11 am mass since he must remain with his seminary group until December.
Continue to pray for our seminarians and all of our clergy.
Recognizing 8 years of Altar Service
Michael Thaete was presented with a Special Altar Server Award at the Saturday 5 pm mass, his last mass as an alter server. Michael, a graduate of Bishop O'Dowd HS, has served since 5th grade and has been very dedicated to the end, serving at the three funerals from Saturday mass in his final week. Michael goes to Sonoma State this fall. Please pray for Michael as he has so faithfully prayed with us.

Departed Brother - Richard Baumgart
Richard Baumgart passed away on August 6. A member of our council for 10 years, Rick was very generous with his time to support his community through the Knights and other organizations. His funeral mass was held Friday August 10 at St Michael Church and was attended by several Livermore Knights showing their appreciation for Rick's contribution to the council and support for his family. Rick will be missed by our council; may he rest in peace.
