We need volunteers to help prepare distribute box lunches to athletes, coaches and families at the two-day Special Olympics event in Walnut Creek. This is a great family event. Serve lunch and cheer on the athletes.

Silver Rose / Lady of Guadalupe
Description: "One Life, One Rose"
When : August 19, 20
Where: St Michael
Contact: Nick Libby, Irving Garcia

A special Silver Rose is making a journey from Canada to Mexico and will be on display for less than 24 hours in the St Michael Church soon. While the program began in 1958, this is the first time we have been selected to host the Silver Rose in Livermore.

The Knights will lead a special rosary on August 19 th after the Rose arrives at St Michael Catholic Church (e.g., after the Spanish mass). The “One Life, One Rose” theme reaffirms our dedication the sanctity of life and we turn to the Blessed Mother to pray for an end to the Culture of Death that grips our society.

On August 20 th , the Silver Rose continues its trek through California toward its final destination - the Basilica de la Virgen de Guadalupe in Monterrey, Mexico on December 12, 2018, Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas.

The Knights of Columbus is a regular participant in the East Bay Stand Down - a consortium of community organizations coming together to provide a four-day event every other year that bring together the nine-county homeless and at-risk military Veterans living in the Bay Area.

We need a dozen volunteers for this very important and moving event on Friday September 14th to serve lunch at this special event that occurs every other year. This is early because all volunteers must sign up by 8/29! If you want to do this, sign up now.

Skills required

If you have website or Facebook skills, we need you! The new website, with its modern WordPress operation and and Facebook account has some buzz and a growing follower base. We can use an additional brother to help maintain and update these sites with the latest activities. Contact me (dwarnold@gmail.com) or John Robinson (johnr767@yahoo.com) if you can help. It is a great opportunity.
Photo Time

Since we have control of our entire website now, we are going to get a council photo directory in place. Please be sure to come to an upcoming meeting and see Ray Miranda to have your photo taken for placement in the e-photoboard. It will be a great way to help brothers get to know each other - especially all of our newer knights!
