Upcoming Events
Brothers - This is an appeal to you as Livermore Knights and as Catholic men get out there and put your faith in action. I am not asking you to do more that you can - just do what you can to get involved and do God's work in our community. As the Christmas holidays have passed and we are approaching Lent rapidly, we have plenty of events that will need help from a larger number of men from our council than we have seen lately. Look through the upcoming events below, visit the website, come to the business meeting...there are activities for everyone and we have a great team to get things done. It is time to answer the call ... -GK Wesley

Novena for Life
What: Novena for Life
When: Start Thursday 1/17; 6:30 pm Rosary
Where: St Michael Chapel

As a lead up to the West Coast Walk for Life, we are hoping you join us in praying a Novena for Life. We will start with a Rosary in the St Michael Chapel on Thursday at 6:30 pm and then follow the guidelines for the "9 Days for Life" novena that is starting today (however, we will start later with our focus on the Walk for Life). We will observe the “Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children” in the middle of the Novena on Jan 22 as prescribed by the Church.
Walk for Life
What: West Coast Walk for Life
When: January 26th
Where: Meet at St Michael for morning prayer; gather in SF for March as Council and parish!

We want to have well over 100 parishioners going from Livermore! We have plenty of signs for everyone to carry and show support!

There will be Mass at 8:30 AM at St. Michael's, followed by a rosary and hospitality in the courtyard. The rally begins at 12:30 PM in San Francisco’s Civic Center Plaza, and the Walk, down the city’s Market Street, begins at 1:30 PM. Visit www.walkforlifewc.com for more information.

Please join the communities of St. Michael and St. Charles for the walk. We will be meeting at 1:00 -1:30 PM on Grove St, between Larkin St and Polk St. Look for the St. Michael banner. For questions, email [email protected].
Vatican Announces Plenary Indulgence and Papal Blessing

The Vatican has granted a plenary indulgence and a papal blessing for those who participate in the Walk for Life West Coast, including those who are sick and infirm and praying along with the participants in the January 26 Mass, rally, and walk along Market Street.

All those present at the Walk for Life rally will receive a papal blessing, conveyed by San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone, and with that a plenary indulgence, according to a letter from Vatican. Those who participate in "sacred celebrations" associated with the Walk throughout the dioceses of the area will also receive the plenary indulgence.

We should finish the walk around 3:30-4:00 pm.

If you can help as a Peace Keeper contact Steve Hagarty at 925-595-3391 or  [email protected] . The sign-up table will be at the Civic Center by the main crosswalk on Larkin Street, look for the KofC table.

If you are walking with your parish or Council please stop by the sign-up table and pick-up a Peace Keeper vest to show the KofC support for this event.
4th Degree Exemplification
All 3rd degree Knights! You should SignUp for the upcoming 4th degree exemplification to be held in Rohnert Park on February 2nd. This is the best of the four membership ceremonies and closes out the 4th pillar of our Order - Patriotism. The event happens once per year in Rohnert Park and is the best way to become a Sir Knight.

IMPORTANT CONSIDERATION - We already have 9 Knights signed up for the event and we have a large number of our 4th degree brothers going to welcome our new Assembly members. It will be a great celebration and probably the best (e.g., most fun and rewarding) single opportunity to become a 4th degree knight! There have to be at least three more of you who have been thinking about it - let's make it a dozen!

Send Tom McCaffrey a note ( [email protected]) and he will make sure you get signed up.

RCCBB Planning Underway
Last years event was amazingly popular!! And Barry s raising the targets for this year. Sharp Shooters Advance to District Competition
Brother John Christman ran a successful Free-throw Competition this Saturday. There was some tough competition in the younger age groups and the little cagers were hitting as many as 13 out of 15 shots from the charity stripe. While we would have loved to have more participants, we will be well represented at the district level February 17th in Pleasanton.
Nice crowds support 6th grade Science Camp
We had a great turnout for the Science Camp breakfast this Sunday and rounded up a nice collection that should help get our 6th graders well on their way to Science Camp. It was great to see so many students and families coming out to help with the various duties and work that it takes to make a pancake breakfast successful...it really brigs smiles to the cooks' faces too! Thanks to everyone for getting the word out to the parish and community and for coming out to help!

The 'Word' from our Sponsor

A great prayer for life is urgently needed, a prayer which will rise up throughout the world. Through special initiatives and in daily prayer, may an impassioned plea rise to God, the Creator and lover of life, from every Christian community, from every group and association, from every family and from the heart of every believer.
