Novena for Life - Keep Praying
What: Novena for Life
When: Continues through Friday evening on your own or in groups

Please continue to pray the Novena for Life as a lead up to the West Coast Walk for Life this Saturday. Follow the guidelines for the "9 Days for Life" novena at the link below. Observe the “Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children” (see below).
Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children

January 22 is a Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children
From USCCB:
The over 56 million abortions since the 1973 decisions of  Roe v. Wade  and  Doe v. Bolton reflect with heartbreaking magnitude what Pope Francis means by a “throwaway culture.” However, we have great trust in God’s providence. We are reminded time and again in Scripture to seek the Lord’s help, and as people of faith, we believe that our prayers are heard.

The General Instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM), no. 373, designates January 22 as a particular day of prayer and penance, called the "Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children”: “In all the Dioceses of the United States of America, January 22 (or January 23, when January 22 falls on a Sunday) shall be observed as a particular day of prayer for the full restoration of the legal guarantee of the right to life and of penance for violations to the dignity of the human person committed through acts of abortion.”

As individuals, we are called to observe this day through the penitential practices of  prayer , fasting and/or giving alms. Another way to take part is through participating in special events to observe the anniversary of  Roe v. Wade . Call your local diocese or parish to find out what events might be taking place in your area.
It is time to
WALK FOR LIFE!!
What: West Coast Walk for Life
When: January 26th
Where: Meet at St Michael for morning prayer; gather in SF for March as Council and parish!

Brothers - We need to have a significant presence this year at the Walk for Life. Too many forces are at work undercutting our Catholic values and this is a time to make our views known that we value life from conception to natural death. We will have signs, there is a plenary indulgence available (see below) and more.

Details:

There will be Mass at 8:30 AM at St. Michael's, followed by a rosary and hospitality in the courtyard. The rally begins at 12:30 PM in San Francisco’s Civic Center Plaza, and the Walk, down the city’s Market Street, begins at 1:30 PM. Visit www.walkforlifewc.com for more information.

Please join the communities of St. Michael and St. Charles for the walk. We will be meeting at 1:00 -1:30 PM on Grove St, between Larkin St and Polk St. Look for the St. Michael banner. For questions, email nicklibby@earthlink.net.
Vatican Announces Plenary Indulgence and Papal Blessing

The Vatican has granted a plenary indulgence and a papal blessing for those who participate in the Walk for Life West Coast, including those who are sick and infirm and praying along with the participants in the January 26 Mass, rally, and walk along Market Street.

All those present at the Walk for Life rally will receive a papal blessing, conveyed by San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone, and with that a plenary indulgence, according to a letter from Vatican. Those who participate in "sacred celebrations" associated with the Walk throughout the dioceses of the area will also receive the plenary indulgence.

Sasse Leads Senate Rebuke of Anti-Catholic Tests

Senator Ben Sasse led an effort to reaffirm religious liberty and condemn religious tests for federal officials...Sasse’s simple resolution affirmed John F. Kennedy’s famous condemnation of anti-Catholic bigotry and held that “it is the sense of the Senate that disqualifying a nominee to Federal office on the basis of membership in the Knights of Columbus violates the No Religious Test clause of the Constitution.”... "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."

Jeremiah 1:5

Did you hear the one ... (ran out of Knight jokes)

–Jesus was standing over the woman caught in adultery and challenged the crowd that “He who is without sin, cast the first stone.” Suddenly, a rock hits the back of his head. Jesus turns and exclaims, “Mom!”
