A Message from the Past Grand Knight
Brother Knights,

It is hard to believe that it has been over a year since I was elected as your Grand Knight. I am deeply honored and grateful to have served you in this capacity. By the time you read this note, I would already be a Past Grand Knight and Worthy Grand Knight Walter has started his term. As we end the 2019-2020 fraternal year and begin the 2020-2021 year, it is a good time to reflect on what we have accomplished and what to focus on in the coming year.

We had another great year! The Council did a lot of charitable work for our parish communities, St. Michael School, various Tri-Valley non-profits and Columbian charities. We continue to be leaders in endeavors that promote and protect the sanctity of life. We also helped our brothers who ran into hard times and needed a hand. Of course we also had fun with our parties and events. I cannot thank you all enough for your hard work and generosity.

The current COVID-19 pandemic has altered how we can do things going forward. Our Council activities will be different. One of the main challenges for us will be to find new ways to do our charitable works and help our community. As Knights, we are known for our faith, charity and service. This pandemic is no different from other challenges our Order has fought through in the past.

In closing, Brothers, I ask that you extend WGK Walter and this year's team, the same support that you have given me this past year. You can start by signing up to fill one of the 3 critical positions that remain open - Financial Secretary, Deputy Grand Knight and Family Director. We need strong leaders now more than ever if our Council were to continue to thrive.

THANK YOU once again for all the work that you do!

Vivat Jesus!

Come on in, Worthy Grand Knight! The water's fine!
A Message from the New Grand Knight
My Brothers,

Yes, this is going to be a challenging year for us.

We will still be very much limited to what we do this next Columbian year as a council as to what we have done in the past. I do not know what this next year may bring to us. A lot of events had to be cancelled due to this Covid virus that has plagued the world. There are still a lot of what ifs. New guidelines coming out from our health advisors from a national standpoint as well as local.

The one thing for now, what we can do for sure is to continue to help our pastor Father Carl reopen the parish by helping out welcome our Catholic community back for which we have all missed. By helping check them in when they arrive and giving them warm greeting of hello. I myself have been doing this along with several other Brother Knights and I have received many laudatory comments from parishioners saying to me: Thank you for being here. It’s really nice to see our knights here.

In closing, my Brothers to another Columbian year of Council 4588 for which I can say proudly, to be a part of, to have shared with all of you and looking forward to do whatever we can together for the next Columbian year. To the officers and directors who are stepping down from years of service, I thank you. And to the returning officers and directors, I thank you for stepping up for another term of service. To the new guys, I wish to thank you as well for responding to the call to serve our council and our Catholic community.

Vivat Jesus!

Oratio Imperata
Prayer for Protection Against COVID-19
God our Father,
We come to you in our need
To ask your protection against the COVID-19 Virus,
That has claimed lives and has affected many.

We pray for your grace
For the people tasked with studying the nature and cause
Of this virus and its disease
And of stemming the tide of its transmission.
Guide the hands and minds of medical experts
That they may minister to the sick
With competence and compassion,
And of those governments and private agencies
That must find cure and solution to this epidemic.

We pray for those afflicted
May they be restored to health soon.

Grant us the grace
To work for the good of all
And to help those in need.

Grant this through our Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son,
Who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever. Amen.
