A special welcome to a new brother Knight Bill Mifsud who joined the Livermore Knights last week!! Bill is a great addition to the council. he is a St Charles parishioner and is continuing a family tradition of being a Knight. Please be sure to welcome him at upcoming events and meetings.

Life-Saving Pancakes & Baby Bottle Campaign

With the RCCBB a complete success, let's focus on the Ultrasound Initiative activity next weekend!!

We have a pancake breakfast and a baby bottle handout to put us over the top - let's get the Ultrasound machine in place now! This will be a major success for Council 4588!

Help is needed for both! Sign up below!

What: Pancake Breakfast

Where: St Michael Large Hall

When: May 19th, 7:30 - 11:30AM

What: Baby Bottle Handout

Where: Both Parishes

When: Hand out all masses May 18th / 19th

We need to fill all baby bottle slots; we especially need signups for Saturday mass. Looking for Knights, families, Scouts, etc. to help with this.

Where: St Michael Courtyard; 7:00 pm

In this turbulent time, the rosary is one of our strongest weapons for good.

Daily rosaries are in the courtyard at St Michael every evening in May at 7 p.m. We will lead a rosary on Thursdays.

Participate in as many of these as you can. It will strengthen you and your family as we petition the Blessed Mother to pray for us to the Lord, our God. There is no sign up ... just need to bring your rosary and your family and pray with us.

Wings of Freedom (Bombers Event)

What: Wings of Freedom Tour

Where: Livermore Airport

When: Memorial Day Weekend

Help grill and sell lunch to visitors at the Memorial Day Wings of Freedom event at Livermore Airport. See the vintage airplanes on display. Meet war veterans and raise funds for our veterans scholarships.

Where: Cornerstone Fellowship

When: May 16th, 7 pm

Our annual Logsdon Student scholarships will be announced as part of the on Thursday evening at the Student recognition event being held at Cornerstone Fellowship at 348 N Canyons Parkway. Dennis Lundbom will be representing the council. If others are interested in also attending, let Dennis or me know.

RCCBB WAS GREAT!

Congratulations to Brother Barry Buckett and the team for organizing and executing on a great event Saturday! Beautiful day, great food, awesome cars and music and 1000's of attendees. I have only heard positive feedback from everyone I have talked to about the event. If you missed it ... you really missed a great time. Thanks to everyone who came out and helped to make it a success. Report out on the results will be at the business meeting in June.

Celebrating 10th Anniversary at St Anthony in Oakley

The message from Father Rafael:

I would like to extend an invitation to celebrate together with your servant this coming Sunday May 19th at 2:00 pm here in my parish ..., St. Anthony, Oakley, CA; 10 years of priestly life. I invite you to the Mass in Spanish that day followed by a small reception (which is supposed to surprise the father). I hope you can accompany me physically, and if I can not do so, I will entrust you with your prayer for many more years of priestly life in fidelity to the Lord. Their humble servant esteems them, Fr. Rafael Hinojosa.

Pray for continued recovery of SK Vince Perpetuo who is now home after 5 weeks in hospital / rehabilitation.

Pray for the repose of the soul of Rev. James Matthews, rector at Christ the Light Cathedral, who passed away suddenly over the weekend.

Pray for repose of the soul of Brother Knight John Pruner and for his family in this difficult time.

Pray for the repose of the soul of Annie Aflague Smith, sister of Lady Knight Mary Mitchell and for her family in this time of mourning.

Pray for the repose of the soul of Correen O'Rourke, who passed away unexpectedly, and for Joe Burrescia's family in this difficult time.

Philip Chukwu, Brother of Columba Chukwu - Who has received cell treatment and is now on chemotherapy with good prognosis. Keep the prayers coming.

Cristopher Carrano's mother, Elizabeth, is still on dialysis and in need of a kidney transplant. Please pray for the location of a viable and willing donor and for her recovery.

Sir Knight Kumar Jayasuriya passed suddenly a week ago of a heart attack. Kumar, only 60 years old, was member of the St Joan of Arc council and became a Fourth Degree knight just last October. Did you hear the one ...

A priest and a bus driver both died and went to Heaven at the same time. They get to the pearly gates where Pope St. Peter greets them. He motions to the priest, and they both hop in a jeep and go out the back door. There are about 50 acres of rolling hills with a little cottage on the knoll.

St. Peter turns to the priest and says "This will be yours for eternity. A perfect little cottage, right next to lovely pond, a lush little garden, and a library full of books."

The priest says, "Thank you so much. This I shall enjoy!" St. Peter drops off the priest, goes back to the pearly gates and motions to the bus driver.

They hop in a stretch limo and go out the front door. There are about 500 acres of land, with mountains and lakes and rivers. There is a huge 200-room castle on one of the mountains, and a wishing well that makes wishes come true. St. Peter says "This will be yours for eternity. You can live in that castle with servants to wait on you hand and foot, and you can have everything you want."

The bus driver looks and St. Peter and says "Well, now, don't think I'm not grateful, but why am I getting so much more than the priest?"

St. Peter just laughs and says "You brought more souls to Heaven! When the priest preached, everyone fell asleep. When you drove your bus, people prayed!"
