Brother Knights,

As we continue to adjust to the new normal in our day to day lives, my thoughts are with you and your families. I hope that every one is staying safe and healthy.

We're still quite limited on what we can do as a Council in the next month but we are moving ahead with some plans on what we can do for the remainder of this Columbian year and begin planning for next year.

On that note, as I mentioned in last week's newsletter, we will have our May business meeting on Thursday. We will do it via video conference and details are in the next section. We will begin with an online rosary at 6:30pm in lieu of our usual dinner. The meeting will then start at 7pm.

I look forward to seeing you all soon.

Council Updates
Membership
Congratulations to brother Mike Resong for attaining full Knighthood in the 3rd Degree! Brother Mike attended the online Exemplification hosted by the Supreme Council in April.
Star Council Award
Supreme has updated the criteria for the Star Council Award due to the the limitations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a result of these changes and our Council making 100% of our membership quota back in March, we are now just 6 new members away from reaching Double Star status!

That's 6 new members by June 30! Time to reach out to your friends, neighbors, brothers and fathers and ask them to join our Order. Joining has never been easier. Supreme is hosting several exemplifications online including Spanish and French ceremonies in the next few weeks. The combined ceremony is only 25 minutes long and is open to family members to watch as well.

If you know of any candidates, please send me their names and phone or email so we can vote on them and get them signed up for the online exemplifications.
Star Council Award (2018-2019)
On a related note, in case you're wondering where our 2018-2019 Star Council Award went, there has been a slight mix up in its delivery to our Council.

Past State Deputy Joe Salaiz wanted to personally present the Star Council Award along with one other award at one of our earlier business meetings. Unfortunately he fell ill and couldn't make the trip. The award packages are now with Oakland Chapter VP Ian Ytem and I will get it as soon as we can have in-person meetings again.

With the extended shelter place order, the following events are unfortunately cancelled:

  • Memorial Day Bombers Event
  • RCCBB 2020 (more details at the business meeting)

Prayer for Protection Against COVID-19
God our Father,
We come to you in our need
To ask your protection against the COVID-19 Virus,
That has claimed lives and has affected many.

We pray for your grace
For the people tasked with studying the nature and cause
Of this virus and its disease
And of stemming the tide of its transmission.
Guide the hands and minds of medical experts
That they may minister to the sick
With competence and compassion,
And of those governments and private agencies
That must find cure and solution to this epidemic.

We pray for those afflicted
May they be restored to health soon.

Grant us the grace
To work for the good of all
And to help those in need.

Grant this through our Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son,
Who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever. Amen.
