Driver's Ed on Campus
We have driver’s ed offered on-campus through A Freeman Driving School.
Prior to taking the class, the students and their guardian/parent must go to the website for the DMV Home - Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles and make an appointment for the first time drivers license. They will charge you about $38.00 or so..it may be slightly different.
Take the original birth certificate and social security card with the student and you will get a Temporary Instructional Permit (TIP)
Once achieved, the student will need to go to: HOME | A Freeman Defensive Driving School
Click on the LCA location after giving the DOB and the special rates will apply. Make sure that we have all the information filled in including the TIP number. We will want to make sure that parents place their emails and emergency numbers and contacts on the online form.
This includes the following:
1. 30 Hours Classroom Theory Class
2. 8 Hour of behind the wheel training
3. The classroom written test. 40 questions and passing is 80%.
4. The driving assessment which is a written discourse to the parents so they know what to work on with the child during the parent/student driving while having a permit.
The last portion which is only open to those 17-19 is the Road Skills Test. This test is a 19 maneuver test in the car that will access the skills retained. This is a 20-minute test and will be performed at our Scott Office-104 Blue Boy Dr.
This test is $50.00 in which you would pay separate for the class as it is a different contract. Once completed and 80% or above is achieved, one would go to the DMV and simply change the permit to a license. There will be no fee as one would have paid it already.
