Coffee and Conversations

Join us for a time of fellowship and insightful discussion with our Head of School, Andy Bell!

This informal gathering is a wonderful opportunity to hear key updates on Oakbrook’s programs, operations, strategic policies, and future growth. Parents will also have time to engage in Q&A regarding school-wide vision and initiatives (for individual classroom or student matters, please continue to reach out directly to teachers or division principals). We hope you’ll join us for a meaningful morning together!

Register now This is great, Sallie®, but students have months to complete the FAFSA®, and I’m buried. We get it—schedules can be hectic. Go ahead and register, and we’ll send you a link to the recording, so you don’t miss this valuable information.

Bridges Corner

Happy September! Now that school is in full swing and we head towards the end of the first grading period, it may be time to examine some key executive functioning strategies to keep students caught up and current. One strategy that I use often with the students that I serve is to ask them, "How much time do you think this assignment will take?" If there is more than one assignment, we prioritize them based on when they are due and how much time they will take, then we develop a strategy for getting the work done -- by the day and by the week for large assignments. Timers become your best friend. Be sure to schedule break times into long periods of sitting! For more tips on time management and other executive function struggles, please contact Genia Batson, Director of Bridges at Oakbrook.
