Congratulations and good luck to the rising freshmen on their transition to LNC High School!

KNIGHTS ATHLETICS

MEN'S LAX STATE CHAMPS!

Lake Norman Charter finished a dominant season (19-3) and postseason run with a 19-5 title-winning victory over #2 seed First Flight in the N.C. High School Athletic Association 1A/2A/3A/ boys lacrosse championship. The duo of freshman Tyler Price (six goals and two assists) and sophomore Jack Dalton (three goals and six assists) dominated for the Knights. Tyler Price scored 5 out of his 6 goals in the second half and was named most valuable player. Congratulations to the men's lacrosse team for a championship end to an exciting season!

TRACK & FIELD STATE AWARDS!

The LNC varsity track & field competed in the 3A state championship at NC A&T and performed very well.

RECOGNITIONS

TEACHERS OF THE YEAR

We are excited to present the 2021-2022 LNC Teachers of the Year! These individuals exemplify love of learning, passion for their profession and genuine care for their students. They are loved by their students and well-respected by their peers. We are so proud to announce the following Teachers of the Year:

HS: Ms. Cavacchia

MS: Mr. Scaringelli

ES: Ms. Hensler

RETIRING STAFF MEMBERS

Congratulations to the four LNC staff members who have or will be retiring this year: Lundi Glover (ES), Mary Marinello (HS), Kim Ribbans (MS) and Connie Stone (MS). They have all made an indelible mark on our school community and the students/staff with whom they have worked. Combined, they have served at LNC for more than 53 years! We will miss them but also wish them our very best on their well-deserved next chapter.

MS. SHANNON STEIN ~ TEN YEARS OF LNC LEADERSHIP

In February, Ms. Shannon Stein was recognized for her ten years of leadership as superintendent of Lake Norman Charter. Under her tenure, LNC has undergone tremendous growth, from the completion of the high school to the opening of the brand new elementary school to our celebration of 20 years of Excellence! Current and former board members, staff and administration, friends and peers, and members of her family (some Zooming in from long distance!) surprised Superintendent Stein with a celebration of her long and successful guidance of Lake Norman Charter!

Congratulations to the students who earned a place on the LNC Honor Roll. We are so proud of your efforts and achievement!

MAYA DABNEY

Kudos to LNC junior Maya Dabney for winning a Gold and Silver Key in the Regional Scholastic Art Competition! The Scholastic Art and Writing competition is one of the most prestigious contests for high school students. She earned a Gold Key for her work, “Through Blood and Tears," and a Silver Key for "Genocide."

Maya's Gold Key-winning artwork, “Through Blood and Tears," went on to compete in the National competition in March, where she won a $1,000 Civic Engagement Scholarship and her second National Gold Medal! Maya will travel to New York to receive her awards in a national ceremony at Carnegie Hall on June 9. Congratulations Maya!

RECYCLE THE RUNWAY

LNC Art 2 and Art 3 honors students participated in the Mecklenburg County Department of Solid Waste and Recycling Recycle the Runway competition and brought home collective winnings of $6,500 that will be used to enhance the LNC art department! Their awards included "Most Creative Use of Recyclable Materials" and "Crowd Favorite." To compete, at least 85% of the fashion had to be created with materials recyclable in Mecklenburg County. Congratulations to these creative and ingenious LNC artists!

MATHLETES

Congratulations to Dr. Kendrick and the 5th grade math team for adding another national title to their trophy case with their win at MathCON as the Most Outstanding Elementary School. MathCON is a nonprofit national mathematics organization recognized for its annual student math competition for students in grades 4-12. 5th grader Lucas Li was the grand champion for his grade level & the 5th grade team captain. Kudos also to the following students who earned individual awards: gold medalist Aaron Wang (8th), bronze medalist Baiyin Ji (7th) & honorable mention winners Xuting Zhang (10th), Sris Koundinya (8th), Joanna Aruljeeva (7th), Abhinav Bodavala (7th), Isaac Grinberg (7th), Siddarth Senthil (6th), Athul Warrier (5th) & Shivank Chintalpati (5th).

BOOTS BULLS & BBQ

On a lovely evening on April 2, over 400 LNC parents, staff and administration enjoyed each other’s company at historic Rural Hill for Boots Bulls & BBQ 2.0. We want to thank all of our parents and staff for joining us, all the wonderful people and local companies who donated fun items for our silent & live auctions and our sponsors who made the evening possible, especially our presenting sponsor, Ratzlaff Construction, our always wonderful DJ, Rick Hyburg from Celebration Sounds, and parent/small business owners Denise Uhlhorn of Blumengarten and Marissa Gilbert of Card My Yard of Lake Norman. Even though the event was about community engagement, thanks to the generosity of our event guests, we cleared a tidy profit and we look forward to investing those funds back into the school and our students in fun and exciting ways as we prepare to celebrate LNC’s 25th year anniversary next school year!
