Softie Hat by Graywood Designs
Friends,
Here's our Softie Hat that takes advantage of fine gauge knitting.
A ribbed band holds this hat in place like a headband. Of course you can make it narrower or wider as you like. The band allows the hat to be pushed back or pulled over the ears.
Then there's a fun stitch pattern that keeps interest. Decrease at the crown and Softie is done.
Softie Hat has been downloaded 3609 times on Ravelry since September 2013. You can download Softie Hat it right on our website and find your yarn there, too.
We are falling in love with Ferner Wolle's new sock yarn, Lungauer Sockenwolle. It's a classic sock blend of wool and nylon but with 20% silk added. This yarn is SO soft and we think it would make a perfect Softie hat.
HINT: You could plan to knit a Softie hat to wear with mirrored sunglasses in the color of the yarn. Very cool, methinks!
I like to figure that knitting a project on smaller needles (US#4 or smaller) with sock yarn (350-400 yards) provides me with 15-20 hours of knitting. If that's the case for you, just a heads up that this hat will give you lots of summer hours of soothing knitting.
Happy knitting,
Wanda Eichler
