Which Yarn for This Pattern?

Canyon Walk Hat is knit using worsted weight yarn, so there are a lot of choices.

I wanted a warm knit hat for walking in the mornings and evenings at our Arizona place. Those desert hours get really chilly so I used Simplinatural by HiKoo, a thick worsted that is soft and knits up like butter. 

The patterns uses two sizes of circular needles — US #5 & #7 — so there is no increasing after the first ribbing. You’ll decrease at the top of the hat.

There's a clever way of counting the ribbing rounds for this hat. The pattern includes a diagram so you can figure that out easily.

I like ribbing and put some variations into this pattern that give accordion-like folds to the knitting. With the worsted gauge, you’ll get a squishy fabric that makes this hat comfy to pull down over your ears.

One size fits most adults. One skein makes a hat. I'm sure you'll knit more than one.
