Knollwood News
January 10, 2021
thank you
A special appreciation to all of you who gave an
end-of-year gift! We had one of our largest offerings for the last week of the year - ever!

We enter the new year with thankful hearts to God for His answer to prayer!
Special Thanks to our Knollwood Carolers!

On Tuesday, December 29th, a group of Knollwood families went caroling at Heatherwood Retirement Center. Lanelle Kyle coordinated it with Heatherwood and Juan Lemus organized the carolers.

Pastor Chris led the carolers, rotating around the facility singing carols for the residents. Our very own Tom Wilson stood at his window and watched his church family sing carols for him and his friends while Lanelle was able to bless her parents who are also residents at Heatherwood. It was a blessing for both the residents and the carolers.

Special thanks to the carolers who shared some holiday spirit with others: Lanelle Kyle, Juan and Paula Lemus, Chris Mendez, Laurie Florence, The Hutchison Family, The Elston Family, The Ayers Family, and The Ledbetter Family.
Mission Update - Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)
Steve Able, the area director for FCA, wishes to thank Knollwood for their continued support. Here's a ministry update from Steve:

The ministry has continued steadily. When Covid became an issue and schools closed, we immediately started texting student leaders and teacher sponsors, and purchased a Zoom account to start meeting with our leaders to teach them how to use it. They adjusted quickly and finished the school year with virtual meetings.

In the spring, I produced a 45-minute ministry update video in lieu of our fundraiser banquet which features a guest speaker and testimonies from our Coach & Athlete Leader of the Year award winners. You can watch the encouraging video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8WcysO3qrc

In the summer, we had a regional virtual camp, which met by Zoom over 4 weeks, and saw 400 coaches & athletes in attendance. I was Assistant Director of the program team.

In September, we had a training with 35 people in attendance, both in person and virtually. Currently, we have 5 schools and a coach's group meeting virtually, averaging between 12 - 30 attendees weekly. The plan is to continue to minister to coaches and teams as some may still be having a season. If you're interested in finding out more, go to greaterffxsouthfca.org

Our prayer requests are:
  1. For Nate Mabrey, who is currently raising funds to come on staff. It would be a huge win for our ministry.
  2. For coaches, as they adjust to everything and hope to guide student athletes through these unprecedented seasons.
  3. For our ministry to continue to reach people with the gospel so they will know Christ as their Savior & Lord
Mission Update: Central Union Mission

A large gift bag of cold weather gear was provided before Christmas to Central Union Mission through Knollwood’s Mission Ministry.  Gifts, totaling $419, included gloves, scarves, socks, and hats for men, women, and children in need.  A very special thanks to our congregation for making this donation possible.
