Know Before You Go: MLK Jr. Day

Join the City of Boca Raton for a Ceremony and Celebration, honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., on Monday, January 20. Here are some helpful tips to #KnowBeforeYouGo.

WHAT TO EXPECT?

The City Boca Raton's MLK Jr. Day Ceremony and Celebration will feature a community breakfast, ceremony, speakers, poetry, amusement rides, performances, photo booth and more. The event also includes a unity march from the MLK Jr. Monument to the Mizner Park Amphitheater.

8:00am - 10:00am: Community Breakfast

Theme: Don't Give Up on the Dream

Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church (220 Ruby Street)

Sponsored by Developing Interracial & Social Change (DISC)


10:00am: Unity March

Starting at the MLK Jr. Monument (200 Ruby Street), traveling south on Federal Highway to the Mizner Park Amphitheater (590 Plaza Real)

  • Featuring Boca Raton Community High School Band and Color Guard
  • Trolley service available for those requiring assistance


10:30am: Ceremony

Mizner Park Amphitheater (590 Plaza Real)


11:30am - 3:00pm: FREE Unity Celebration

Mizner Park Amphitheater (590 Plaza Real, east lot)

  • Amusement rides and games
  • Community service project
  • Community partner booths
  • Photo booth
  • Food and drinks available for purchase
  • Stage performances


Weather: The event continues rain or shine.


Restrooms: Located at the Mizner Park Amphitheater.


Food Vendors: A variety of food trucks will be onsite at the Mizner Park Amphitheater with food available for purchase.

Free and ample parking available at:

  • City Hall: 201 W. Palmetto Park Road
  • Building Administration: 200 NW 2nd Avenue
  • Downtown Public Library: 400 NW 2nd Avenue
  • City Lot: 300 NW 2nd Avenue
  • Limited parking available at Mizner Park garages


Metered parking:

  • On-street metered parking available throughout downtown

Bicyclists: Bike racks are available at the Mizner Park Amphitheater. Be sure to wear reflective clothing and add reflective material to your bike for safety.


See Tracks? Think Train: For those walking to and from the event, look and listen before crossing any train tracks.


Charge While You Attend: Electric car charging stations are available nearby, at City Hall and the Downtown Library.


Plan Ahead: Whether you are utilizing a shared ride program or driving your car to the event, leave early and plan ahead in order to arrive to the event safe and on time.



Traffic Alert:

  • There will be a rolling road closure for the unity march from 10:00am to 11:00am - starting at Glades Road and Federal Highway, to NE 2nd Street, and up through Mizner Park.
