I am excited to tell you about a new program: Know It, Control It for Seniors that is being launched through The North Carolina Division of Public Health (NC DPH). As you may know, 2 out of 3 adults over age 65 have high blood pressure. This program is a great opportunity to help improve the health of your clients and the skills of your staff. Know It, Control It for Seniors is a blood pressure management program that uses evidence-based resources to teach participants to self-monitor their blood pressure and incorporate healthy habits into their lifestyle.
Staff that are interested in offering this program will need to attend the
Know It, Control It Blood Pressure Coach Training being offered for free on
Monday June 26, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the NC Division of Public Health in Raleigh. Lunch will be provided. Staff who become trained as blood pressure coaches will receive a free blood pressure monitor, the eight-lesson curriculum and a marketing flier to recruit participants.
The blood pressure coach will be expected to offer Know It, Control It for Seniors within three months of being trained.
To offer this program at your facility, you will need access to a computer/tablet, the internet, a projector or large TV screen/monitor, and a private room.
You can register by sending an email to:
firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line "Know It, Control It." Include your name, organization, phone number and a return email address. I hope your organization and/or staff are able to participate in Know It, Control It for Seniors.
