About 1 in 3 or 2.7 million North Carolina adults have been diagnosed with high blood pressure by a health care professional. Another 1 in 3 may be at risk for high blood pressure. High blood pressure causes or contributes to at least 1 in 4 deaths in North Carolina each year. High Blood Pressure Education Month aims to save lives by increasing awareness and educating the public about cardiovascular risks and how to prevent them.

How we address High Blood Pressure in our Regional Project

As a result of one of our Faithful Families Programs in Maxton, NC we were able to set up a blood pressure monitoring station along with resources for the congregation to take on how to manage and lower their blood pressure.

Participate in a walkability audit in a local neighborhood, hosted by Mark Fenton, and learn ways to promote walkability in your community, how to create "pop-ups," and ways to make your neighborhood more walkable.
