On September 9, 2021 at the annual Spectrum Policy Initiative Conference “Frontiers in Spectrum Sharing,” Dr. Keith Gremban (pictured right) was announced as a new co-director of the initiative, joining longtime initiative Co-director and Distinguished Advisor, Dale Hatfield. Dr. Gremban has been a crucial community member and a nationally recognized expert on wireless communications systems.
Dr. Gremban replaces Spectrum Policy Initiative Co-director Pierre de Vries, (pictured left) who announced he will be shifting to a new role as director emeritus and distinguished advisor. De Vries has played an integral role at Silicon Flatirons since becoming a fellow in 2008 and later becoming Co-director of the Spectrum Policy Initiative in 2012.
Expert panelists will examine the following topics: Who is using artificial intelligence in legal practice and how widely is it being used? Where has AI been successful in the practice of law? Where has it failed to live up to its promise? What are the benefits and downfalls of using artificial intelligence in the practice of law? What does the future hold?
The 2021 program spanned June to August and involved students from across the nation in a virtual setting. Over 20 guest speakers from across the Front Range and beyond contributed their time and expertise to advise participants on how to build a company.
Over the summer, students worked in teams to devise six innovative new companies. Teams were guided through the startup ideation and creation process and competed for a total of $15,000 in prizes.
Silicon Flatirons is pleased to designate Peter Tenhula as a Senior Fellow affiliated with the Spectrum Policy Initiative.
Tenhula recently retired from federal government service, having worked for nearly 25 years at the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) in the U.S. Department of Commerce and at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), with a six-year stint in-between at a radio technology startup.
