It is my hope and prayer that your week is beginning well, after a hopeful and encouraging Sunday worship yesterday. We are so grateful for the many church members and children who led us in worship, and it is our prayer that you sensed the presence of the Lord as we sang, prayed and learned together. And while sharing in the Lord's Supper feels a bit different right now, it was such a joy to know that, although physically apart, we were all sharing in communion together. This week, as a congregation, we are exploring the idea of knowing and being known by God. Perhaps no story better illustrates that than the story of Jesus as the Good Shepherd. It is with confidence that we can claim that God knows each of us intimately, and that Christ taught us how to seek to more deeply know God ourselves. Christ the Good Shepherd is always close by as one who knows us and who longs to be known. See the schedule directly below for all that is happening this week, and allow me to highlight one new addition for the remaining Fridays of May.
As we continue to experience the closeness of the Good Shepherd in this unique time, I would invite you to explore the ways that God might be longing to be known to you in different and unique ways. Beginning this Friday, May 8 at 9am, each Friday morning in May, spiritual director and former CBF field personnel, Melody Harrell will be leading
Listening for God: Contemplative Practices for Faith. Simply log onto the
Zoom meeting and bring with you an open mind and heart as we learn new ways of praying and practicing our faith. If this approach to spirituality is new to you, this is a great time to try out something new and see if anything resonates as a practice you might carry over into your faith journey.
I hope you'll make plans to join us for just one Friday, or all four Fridays in May! I know it will be an encouraging, uplifting, and hopeful way to join in praying and understanding our faith together.
