EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE
| | |
Dear Chamber Members,
I hope that your year is off to a great start. The beginning of the year is when things really start to heat up for the Chamber. We are working on plans for the new Kodiak Home Show, the 2026 Relocation Guide, the Coast Guard Appreciation Dinner, ComFish, Community Clean Up Day and Crab Fest 2026. All of these events and our relocation guide will take place between February and May. From a new Kodiak Home Show Raffle (tickets are on sale now), to dinners, decorations, business after hours, and ribbon cutting ceremonies, as well as vendor signups, planning forum speakers and schedules and much, much more…when I I say that we’re busy, I really mean it.
Here are a few of our upcoming events: Tonight join us at Solwater Collective for their Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and this Friday we hope to see you at the Kodiak College Cabin Fever Reliever Business After Hours. In February we’ll be helping Discover Kodiak with their Chocolate Lover’s Fling at the Marketplace on the 13th, the next week will be our Annual Coast Guard Appreciation Dinner on Friday the 20th, tickets are available through this newsletter and on our website right now, and the following weekend will be the Chamber’s first Kodiak Home Show! If you are interested in being a vendor sign up now while space is available.
Be sure to check out a new program that we recently added, Chamber backed travel to Greece in November 2026. We’ve partnered with Aventura World Travel to offer our members top notch, guided overseas travel opportunities. Aventura World Travel has been working with Chambers all over the country since 1972.
Remember to take advantage of free access to workshops with the Alaska Small Business Development Center with your membership, contact our team if you need more information on how to take advantage of that service so we can help you get started. In addition to offering the free training to members we will be looking at offering educational 3 seminars through the Alaska SBDC this year. If you have preferences on subject matter please let me know.
Thank you for your continued support of the Chamber, our programs, this extraordinary community, sponsorships, and for your membership - thank you all so very much! Here’s to an incredible year in 2026!
Warm Regards,
Ellen Simeonoff, Executive Director

The Chamber Team proudly presented three donations of $2224.50 each to incredible organizations serving our Kodiak community.
The Salvation Army, Brother Francis Shelter, and KWRCC each received support to help continue their vital work caring for and strengthening our island. Their compassion and commitment make a meaningful difference for so many in Kodiak, and we are honored to support the work they do every day.
| |
These donations were made possible thanks to the generosity of our local business community. Your support helped the Kodiak Chamber exceed our annual goal for the Chamber Scholarship Fund through a very successful Silent Auction Fundraiser held during our Annual Awards Dinner in November.
Because of you, the Chamber is able to give back in meaningful ways and support the organizations that make Kodiak a stronger and more caring place to live.
Thank you for being part of the Chamber and for your continued support.

KEA members locally elect KEA’s directors.
Candidate petition packets are available by contacting the KEA office. To be an eligible candidate, you must be a member of KEA.
Completed candidate petition packets must be received by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at the KEA office at 1614 Mill Bay Road.

Ballot results will be announced at KEA’s Annual Membership Meeting on Monday, April 20, 2026. The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m.
During 2025, regular meetings of the Board were held on the fourth Thursday of each month, beginning at noon. An average of 30 hours is required for 12 regular meetings during the year. The Board also meets as a whole for the Annual Membership Meeting and on the following day to organize the slate of officers. Meetings may be attended virtually.

The deadline for any changes to be in effect for this year’s election process is March 2, 2026. Let's talk about what's new at your business!
Chamber News & Views is a weekly, two-minute, pre-recorded radio segment that airs on KVOK & HOT 101.1
Each segment spotlights one of our local Chamber Members and is recorded at the KVOK studio.
What is Discussed?
Maybe you have a sale coming up, or a new menu, or want to let the community
| | |
know about a new feature, event or changes at your business. We will help guide your message, but anything business-related is fair game!
Who Can Take Advantage?
Any Chamber Member is able to take advantage of this unique promotional opportunity. Anyone from the organization can be interviewed. You choose the direction and goal you'd like to accomplish, and we will work with you to achieve it! This is a completely FREE service we provide for our Chamber Members.
How Do I Get Started?
Contact Alexa to schedule an interview with Jen, via email, stop by the office, or
| | |
call (907) 486-5557 to schedule an interview by calling the Chamber office. Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for (audience)? Why should they care (benefit)? What do I want them to do (call-to-action)?
Create a great offer by adding words like "free," "personalized," "complimentary," or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take action, so consider inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"
Contact our office to set up an appointment to share what's happening at your business through Chamber News & Views!
