A Message from our Board of Directors President, Jeff Sanford
October 26, 2023
Kodiak Chamber Members,
Kodiak’s economy is an ecosystem where we are all vendors, employees, partners and customers to each other. In a sense we rely on each other to succeed in being successful each day.
In our Chamber, we see every day how new, innovative and bold entrepreneurs sail out into uncharted seas to serve their customers, clients and various communities. At the chamber we believe any business of any size ought to have a fighting chance to prove their worth in our market.
The Kodiak Chamber fights for our businesses. Whether it is pushing for expansion of services and events for our community, voicing concerns to our local, state and federal lawmakers, or opposing policies that will hurt business bottom lines, the Chamber always will stand up for the rights of our Kodiak businesses. Our Chamber team works every day to give Kodiak businesses a big voice. We try to connect business with the right officials to advocate for policies that help business grow, rather than hold them back.
The Chamber Board consists of business owners and representatives, City and Borough officials, Coast Guard Captains, and non-profit leaders. We try to steer our work in fighting for policies and events that keep our community thriving. Reach out to our Board and our Chamber team if you need help or want advice for your business.
Our membership is now pushing 275 members and growing every day. As this grows so does our voice to represent you. Explore with us the level of membership that makes sense to you.
Finally, Kodiak has an established and proven Chamber of Commerce (Since 1964). It has numerous connections within state and in our community. You will find that your ability to make a local impact grows exponentially the more you and your business are involved.
We look forward to continuing to serve you and strengthening your business.
Thank you
Sincerely,
Jeff Sanford
President
Kodiak Chamber of Commerce

October and November have a lot to offer when it comes activities and events in Kodiak. I hope you will find time to look at the events mentioned in this newsletter as well as the Member benefits available. We are a new staff at the Chamber office and have much to learn, but we are motivated and dedicated to stepping up to do as much as we can to support our members. There is a Business After Hours tonight starting at 5pm Alaska Groundfish Data Bank, some GREAT Moonlight Madness Sales throughout the community tomorrow, the Made in Kodiak Fall Harvest Market takes place on Saturday, the Chamber will host our Annual Meeting & Awards Recognition Dinner on Saturday, then next week we end the month with a Downtown Trick or Treat.
At the Chamber we just launched our Crab Fest Logo & Poster contests, and the Holiday Decorating Contest and Relocation Guide Photo Contest will be announced next week. The dates for ComFish Alaska 2024 have been set for April 11-13, 2024 in the brand new KANA Marketplace and Crab Fest planning is in the works!
If you have an event you’re planning, a sale, a press release, open house or have questions for ideas and plans you’re working on, please reach out and talk with us about them or email us your flyer and information so we can share it with our membership. Lori, Linda & I are here to help.
Have a wonderful and safe Halloween weekend!
