This week with Rabbi Kinberg
Today I am flying to a state I have never visited to visit children I do not know. I never thought I would need to make this trip. But by the time you read this I will be in the air and the next time you see me, this Friday night at services, I will be ready to tell you what I saw. What I heard. What I learned.

My rabbinical organization, the Reconstructionist Rabbinical Association, is collaborating with T'ruah and the Religious Action Center on a rabbinic delegation to the Texas/Mexico border this week to bear witness to and provide pastoral support to families torn apart by the Trump Administration's Zero-tolerance policy and practice for separating children from their parents.

As the child of a child refugee myself, my heart is torn apart by what I am seeing our government do to families seeking refuge. Thankfully the national outcry over this policy has been deafening and good people everywhere are joining together to express their horror at what our government is doing in the name of safety and security.

I will be traveling as part of a  delegation, an interfaith effort, of clergy members to McAllen, Texas this Thursday for a day of witness and meetings at the Ursula processing center outside of McAllen.  There will be 40 clergy members in attendance, approximately 10 each from Jewish, Catholic, Christin and Muslim communities.
My trip is made financially possible through the generosity of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical Association and the members of Kol Ami who make my travel/conferences possible.
Many Blessings,
Rabbi Kinberg
