ABOUT OUR BAT MITZVAH, RUTH SIGMAN
Ruth Liana Sigman was born in Salt Lake City and is finishing her 7th grade
(remotely) at West High School while spending this year at home with her
parents, Matt and Debbie, and her brother, Elias.

Ruth has spent this relatively solitary year reading and reflecting about social justice in Western society. In her Torah portion from Leviticus, she reconciles written prescriptions for moral behavior in the Torah with explorations of morality in philosophy and modern psychology. She is passionate about justice and liberation, and is designing a role supporting childhood literacy as soon as we all start circulating again.

Safely merging bubbles with her grandparents in town (Madeleine, Don, Diane, and Grandpa Frank who recently passed) has been a bright spot of the year. She has also been keeping up gymnastics skills while on hiatus and is looking forward to returning to the gym soon. She is looking forward to reconnecting with her cousins in California and putting her feet in the ocean again.

Ruth would like to thank David Asman, Rabbi Spector, her parents, and especially her brother for helping her prepare to become a Bat Mitzvah.
The Book of Job, the great tragic epic of the Tanakh, is our next text for careful study. Learn more.
