Passover

The Passover Seder is one of the most powerful rituals of the Jewish year. Gathered around a table with friends, family, or a bit of both, we share the story of how a group of slaves in Egypt came to be the Israelites. We share the earliest memories of our people and combine them with the lessons that have been learned. And then we eat a delicious meal whose ingredients (and lack of certain ingredients) reinforce our stake in the whole thing. The Seder is what Rabbi Lawrence Hoffman, a scholar of Jewish ritual, calls a “sacred drama,” and one that asks something of us in this moment.

President's Blog:

Thank You for the Support

As you may know, my term as President concludes in less than a month, and this will be my final Kol Kehillah article. Serving this congregation for the past two years has been an honor, and I look forward to supporting our next President as she brings her ideas forward.

When I began my term, I focused on revitalizing our building to make it even more welcoming for members and guests. Unexpected circumstances required us to replace the roof, and with the guidance of the Finance Committee, we launched TKC’s first capital campaign in over 20 years. Together, we set a goal of raising $150,000 to replace the roof, repair and repave the parking lot, and refresh the social hall. I was fortunate to work with an exceptional executive committee, board of trustees, staff, and volunteers who guided and executed this work, and I am deeply grateful to our Kehillah for the generous contributions that made these plans possible.

News From the Mitzner Family Religious School

We are almost done with the school year - hard to believe!! In March, we celebrated both Purim and Passover during school.

Purim was a Prom-a-palooza event with Esther and her cousin Mordechai as nerdy debate team members saving their school from Haman's evil plots! This fun, immersive event was funded in part with a grant from the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta. We had so much fun at this great event, put on again by Caroline Figiel!

Passover was celebrated on March 29 to prepare for the holiday! The older students participated in an escape-room-style event to learn the story of Passover, while our younger students heard the story of Passover in a musical experience with Caroline and Danny. It was such fun! We ended the day with our students being led through the Red Sea by Moses (played by Rabbi Holtz.)

UPDATES FROM OUR YOUTH PROGRAMS

KLUB345

Klub 345 had a great time celebrating Havdalah with Rabbi Holtz. Our Movie Night and Taco Bar dinner was a wonderful way to wrap up Shabbat with our friends and S’mores.

We will finish our year with a Water Carnival Day featuring Minute to Win It games and starring a 15’ inflatable water slide on April 26.

2^nd graders who are interested in becoming Klub 345 members in the Fall are welcome to attend this event but will need to send an RSVP so that we can get a headcount for food and chaperones.

Join us as we wrap up a great year of fun with this final event.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY:

Help collect money in our parking lots for Alive in Roswell every 3rd Thursday starting April 16th. Collected funds will go towards TKC programming. You can bring food, friends, and music to help pass the time!
