  Kol Ramah, Week 5
Nature and Cooking at Ramah
At Ramah Nyack, campers have many opportunities to enjoy our beautiful surroundings and immerse themselves in nature. In teva (nature), chanichim explore our stream searching for wildlife, observing animals in their natural habitat, and collecting tadpoles and frogs to examine more closely before releasing them back to nature. We cook in nature during bishul bachutz (outdoor cooking)! We practice various cooking techniques safely over the fire to create pita bread from scratch, cook fresh vegetables, and taste myriad spices and seasonings. A camper favorite is, of course, roasting moosh mallows. Bogrim made "tzedakah s'mores" to give to staff around camp as a way of showing appreciation for the work they do. We also bring our culinary interest to our traditional kitchen setting in bishul (cooking) where we make confetti hamantaschen, chips and salsa, with fruit kebobs and pickles on the menu for next week, all modified for our campers with food allergies.

General Camp News
Ramah Outdoors
Ramah Outdoors specialty camp had an exciting week of experiencing all that our surroundings have to offer under beautiful skies and ideal temperatures. We had many opportunities for hiking, trail exploration, fire building, shelter building, boating, and the highlight of our week- an overnight camping trip here at camp! During the week we learned the importance of planning and preparation. As a group we decided what our meals would be, and what supplies we would need. After we cooked the dinner we had planned under the moonlight, we roasted marshmallows for s'mores over our campfire. Guided by Saul Zebovitz, an Eagle Scout and experienced outdoorsman, along with the Ramah Outdoors staff, our campers gained confidence while developing their outdoors skills. Limited space is available in Ramah Sport beginning next week.  Click here  for more information.
Building Friendships
Throughout the summer we have the joy of watching our campers build lasting friendships and meaningful relationships. As we welcomed our second session campers, we got to know new friends while reconnecting with our returning campers. We spent the week creating bunk unity and cohesiveness during various activities and exercises. All areas of camp offer opportunities for our campers to work together, develop trust and confidence while building upon the foundation of friendship nurtured by our tzevet (staff). Through their exploration of the low ropes course, campers develop invaluable teamwork skills while learning to trust their own physical abilities and strength. In the makers space campers collaborate and share ideas to develop unique creations. Even on the sports fields and courts we witness campers encouraging and supporting each other. We are filled with naches (pride) when we see chanichim lend each other a helping hand.
Important Reminders
Please label all articles of clothing, hats, swimsuits, water bottles, and sunscreen your child wears or brings to camp. If an item gets separated from your child it allows us to return it quickly.

We provide our campers with snacks and meals throughout the day. For the safety of our campers and staff with food allergies, we ask that no food of any kind be sent to camp with your children .
