Dear Friends of the Kolbe Center,
Glory to Jesus Christ!
As we approach the beginning of our 25th year in this apostolate and we look back on God’s blessings, we are especially grateful for the grace to resist the advice of well-meaning friends who warned us not to proclaim truths that were unthinkable, even to devout Catholics, because, in the words of one friend, we ought not to “kill too many sacred cows at one time”! Certainly, one of the most sacred cows in the pantheon of elite academia, both Catholic and secular, is the myth of Galileo the martyr of science, persecuted by the Catholic Church, who heralded the dawn of the modern age of Enlightenment and scientific progress. The power of this myth was illustrated by an anecdote told by a priest-friend who had studied biochemistry at the graduate level in a university out West. He related that he attended a meeting of the professors from the various science departments at which some of them complained of students who refused to give up their belief in special creation and who actively defended the literal historical truth of Genesis. “Bring up Galileo,” one of the professors insisted. “That shuts ‘em up every time!”

Out of the Mouths of Demons
In our previous newsletter, we showed how Fr. Teilhard de Chardin conceived of the counterfeit spirituality of the “living host” and the “cosmic Christ” in direct opposition to the authentic spirituality of the “living host,” as exemplified in the lives of genuine saints like St. Therese of Lisieux and Venerable Archbishop Luis Maria Martinez. But while Fr. Teilhard completely rejected God’s Genesis Revelation as it had been understood in the Church from the beginning, he traced the triumph of his new and “better Christianity” based on evolution back to Galileo:
In earlier times, until Galileo, there was perfect compatibility between historical representations of the Fall and the dogma of universal redemption – and all the more easily, too, in that each was modeled on the other. So long as people believed as St. Paul himself did, in one week of creation and a past of 4000 years – so long as people thought the stars were satellites of the earth, and that animals were there to serve man – there was no difficulty in believing that a single man could have ruined everything, and that another man had saved everything.
Another flagrant example of the way that the demonic forces have used the Galileo Affair to advance their satanic agenda took place at Vatican II when Cardinal Suenens urged his brother bishops to change the Church’s teaching on birth control. In the words of Pope Paul VI’s biographer, Peter Hebblethwaite, Cardinal Suenens:
questioned "whether moral theology took sufficient account of scientific progress, which can help determine, what is according to nature. I beg you, my brothers, let us avoid another Galileo affair. One is enough for the Church” (emphasis added).
Cardinal Suenens knew very well that the Church considered contraception a violation of the natural law. According to Divine Revelation, the Creator had designed the bodies of man and woman in such a way that contraception violated human nature. In the light of “scientific progress” and the alleged evidence for human evolution, Suenens argued that the Church leadership was no longer bound by an antiquated concept of human nature. Thus, out of the mouths of demons came the recognition that the modernists who rejected the reading of Genesis 1-11 upheld by all of the Fathers and Doctors of the Church drew their confidence from the “fact” that the Church had been wrong in the Galileo Affair and that, like Galileo, they could use “science” to correct and update the Church’s teachings on sexual morality. In the words of Robert Sungenis, most Catholic historians of science:
write from the perspective that Galileo was right and the Church was wrong because they all think that science has proven that the Earth rotates and revolves, and thus are fatally led to the quest to find some “other reason” why the Church, even “led by the Holy Spirit” and her consensus of Church Fathers and medievals, made the decision against a heliocentric universe. The alternative is simple. The Church decided against heliocentrism, even calling it a “formal heresy” both in 1616 and 1633, because the universe actually is geocentric. All modern physicists, at least the ones who are honest and not trying to save the world from believing in God, will admit this fact, and Ernst Mach and Albert Einstein were two of them.
Prior to relativity, everyone was in the grip of Isaac Newton who conveniently made his laboratory our solar system and thus eliminated the rest of the universe, making it inert and absolute (i.e., could not move). Thus, if the solar system is the laboratory, then because the sun is much bigger in mass than the Earth and the planets, all of them would have to rotate around the sun to escape being pulled in by the sun. But Einstein’s General Relativity can hold two diverse views: (A) that the Earth rotates daily and revolves yearly in a fixed universe; and (B) that the universe rotates daily around a fixed Earth. Not only could (B) be true as an idea, but “relativity” requires that Einstein provide the math to show how it would work, which has been provided not only by Einstein but by many physicists in the 20th century (e.g. Barbour-Bertotti, Bondi, Toleman, Lemaitre, Moller, Nightengale, Hoyle, Bouw, Assis, et al). In short, for example, the Foucault Pendulum changes its angle of rotation because the universe, and its accompanying inertial forces, rotates around a fixed Earth and pulls the free-swinging pendulum. The same for stellar parallax. The observer on Earth sees a parallax angle change every six months because the universe has a precession in its rotation.

The Emperor of Scientism’s New Clothes
Thanks to the pioneering work of Dr. Robert Sungenis, Dr. Robert Bennett, and other courageous researchers, Catholics can once again confidently defend and proclaim God’s revelation that we are the apple of His eye, and that this Earth is the physical and spiritual capital of the universe. In this newsletter, we want to highlight two outstanding resources that now make it possible for the average person to understand why there is not—and never has been—any reason to depart from the literal and obvious sense of the many passages in Scripture that tell us that the Earth is motionless at the center of the universe. The first is Robert Sungenis’s book Geocentrism 101, the ninth edition; and the second is our new, amazingly condensed, two-and-a-half-hour-long-version of our DVD series “Foundations Restored,” which makes Dr. Wolfgang Smith’s brilliant defense of geocentrism easily accessible and understandable in non-technical language. The Online Streaming version is available now and the DVD version of the abridged version is expected to be available before Christmas. With the help of these two resources, Catholics everywhere can once again rejoice in the truth of God’s Revelation about our singularly favored position in time and space.
We can truly thank God for revealing these things to us, things that are beyond the reach of natural science, requiring a vantage point outside of time and the cosmos that natural science cannot attain—and which it cannot even seek to attain without falling into scientism. St. Hildegard of Bingen, Doctor of the Church, was shown the constitution of the universe when all the learned men of Christendom embraced the Ptolemaic model of the solar system. In Ptolemy’s system, the Earth remained motionless at the center, and the sun and the planets revolved around the Earth. Amazingly enough, what God showed St. Hildegard was not the Ptolemaic model of the solar system. Instead, St. Hildegard was shown the Earth motionless at the center of the cosmos, with the sun going around the Earth and the planets going around the sun.
After the invention of the telescope, astronomers realized that the Ptolemaic model could not explain all of their observations, and Copernicus, Galileo and their disciples showed that a heliocentric model of the solar system had more explanatory power than the Ptolemaic model. However, the greatest astronomer of the age, Tycho Brahe, who made more observations of the heavens than anyone before him in recorded history, showed that he could explain all the observations of the solar system by having the Earth motionless at the center, the sun going around the Earth, and the planets going around the sun—the very thing that God had shown to St. Hildegard of Bingen 400 years earlier! Thus, the greatest astronomers of the age of Galileo, including the Jesuit astronomers, saw that Tycho’s system explained all the observations, without abandoning the traditional geocentric-geostatic understanding of the cosmos that flowed from the literal and obvious sense of Scripture, as it had been understood since the time of King Solomon.

St. Hildegard’s Visions Anticipate Tycho Brahe’s Model of the Solar System
As an example of the kinds of explanations that Geocentrism 101 provides, consider this account of the way that certain of Isaac Newton’s assumptions were corrected by Ernst Mach and Albert Einstein—in a way that harmonized perfectly with the visions of St. Hildegard and the geocentric-geostatic model of Tycho Brahe:
Although Newton sought to apply his laws of motion only to the solar system so that, as he says in his 1684 Scholium:
Thence indeed the Copernican system is proved a priori. For if a common center of gravity is computed for any position of the planets, it either lies in the body of the Sun or will always be very near it…
In the end Newton realized, especially after consultation with Christiaan Huygens, that his laws of motion could be applied more expansively. In doing so, it would allow the solar system’s center of mass to be near the sun, but also allow the Earth to be the center of mass of a much larger system. As such, the sun, with its planets, would revolve around a fixed Earth as described in the Tychonian system. For this alternative to be permitted, however, Newton stipulated that an additional force outside the solar system must work in tandem with the gravitational forces inside the solar system. Several modern physicists have acknowledged Newton’s alternative, one of them being the Nobel laureate, Steven Weinberg. Here is how Weinberg describes it in his 2015 book, To Explain the World:
If we were to adopt a frame of reference like Tycho’s in which the Earth is at rest, then the distant galaxies would seem to be executing circular turns once a year, and in general relativity this enormous motion would create forces akin to gravitation, which would act on the Sun and planets and give them the motions of the Tychonic theory. Newton seems to have had a hint of this. In an unpublished ‘Proposition 43’ that did not make it into the Principia, Newton acknowledges that Tycho’s theory could be true if some other force besides ordinary gravitation acted on the Sun and planets.
Weinberg’s reference to “forces akin to gravitation” refers to inertial forces, such as centrifugal, Coriolis and Euler forces. Using Einstein’s General Relativity as the sanction, Weinberg indicates that, in the view of modern physics, a universe rotating around a fixed Earth will create inertial forces that mimic the force of gravity. As the universe’s inertial forces meet the gravitational forces in our solar system, both will contribute to how the sun and planets will move with respect to each other. Weinberg also notes that the inclusion of forces outside the solar system that will allow Tychonian geocentrism are specified in Newton’s Proposition 43, which was originally planned to be added to page 510, the last page of the Principia. In Proposition 43 Newton says:
In order for the Earth to be at rest in the center of the system of the Sun, Planets, and Comets, there is required both universal gravity and another force in addition that acts on all bodies equally according to the quantity of matter in each of them and is equal and opposite to the accelerative gravity with which the Earth tends to the Sun… For, such a force, acting on all bodies equally and along parallel lines, does not change their position among themselves, and permits bodies to move among themselves through the force of universal gravity in the same way as if it were not acting on them. Since this force is equal and opposite to its gravity toward the Sun, the Earth can truly remain in equilibrium between these two forces and be at rest. And thus celestial bodies can move around the Earth at rest, as in the Tychonic system.
Let’s confirm this scientific truth with other sources. In his book, Relational Mechanics, physicist Andre T. Assis shows how the centrifugal, Coriolis and Euler forces, as real forces that determine the revolutions of the celestial bodies, can be derived from simple Newtonian and Machian physics. He writes:
In the Ptolemaic system, the earth is considered to be at rest and without rotation in the center of the universe, while the sun, other planets and fixed stars rotate around the earth. . . Now the gravitational attraction of the sun is balanced by a real gravitational centrifugal force due to the annual rotation of distant masses around the earth (with a component having a period of one year). In this way the earth can remain at rest and at an essentially constant distance from the sun. The diurnal rotation of distant masses around the earth (with a period of one day) yields a real gravitational centrifugal force flattening the earth at the poles. Foucault’s pendulum is explained by a real Coriolis force acting on moving masses over the earth’s . . . The effect of this force will be to keep the plane of oscillation of the pendulum rotating together with the fixed stars.

The Little Flower
It is worth reflecting that every Father and Doctor of the Church, up to and including St. Therese of Lisieux, believed in the geostatic-geocentric structure of the universe. In the Catechism of Perseverance that the Little Flower used to learn the doctrines of the Faith, she read:
Q: Why were the sun, the moon and the stars not created until the fourth day?
A: They were not created until the fourth day, to teach man that they are not the authors of the good things of the earth. God wishes thereby to prevent idolatry.
Q: What further do you remark with respect to the sun?
A: The sun rises and sets every day, runs his course with great velocity, illumines and vivifies all of nature. It is in this an image of Christ, who, having gone forth from the bosom of His Father, returned to Heaven, after having enlightened all men by His doctrine, and sanctified them by His merits and example.
Reflecting on the fact that every Apostle, Father and Doctor of the Church believed these things, is it conceivable that Our Heavenly Father would have allowed His Church to mislead the faithful for two thousand years, until the disciples of Galileo, Descartes, and Darwin could finally enlighten us?
In his letter to the Romans, St. Paul warns that the wrath of God will descend upon anyone who suppresses the Truth about Creation. But the “wrath of God” is often misunderstood to mean some kind of natural disaster. In reality, the wrath of God often simply means that God allows us to suffer the spiritual and moral consequences of rejecting what He has revealed. That is why the Little Flower suffered the worst temptation of her life on her deathbed, suffering as a victim soul for all the Popes, bishops, priests, religious and laity who would be tempted to deny supernaturally revealed truths like special creation and geocentrism in favor of “natural” explanations that contradict God’s Word as believed in the Church from the beginning. Thus, she begged her sisters:
Pray very much for me so that I do not listen to the Devil who wants to persuade me about so many lies. It is the reasoning of the worst materialists that is imposed upon my mind. Later, unceasingly making new advances, science will explain everything naturally. We shall have the absolute reason for everything that exists and that still remains a problem, because there remain very many things to be discovered (emphasis added).
We urge you to take advantage of these wonderful resources so that you, your families, friends, and neighbors can have the child-like faith of the Little Flower, use that supernatural Faith to move mountains of indifference and unbelief, and, so, hasten the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the social reign of Christ Our King throughout the world.
Yours in Christ through the Holy Theotokos, in union with St. Joseph,
Hugh Owen

The Definitive Catholic Guide to Catholic Creationist St. Augustine
St. Augustine is widely cited as a proto-theistic evolutionist who provides a basis in the Fathers of the Church for rejecting the literal historical truth of the first eleven chapters of the sacred history of Genesis. Using numerous quotations from St. Augustine's works, editor Chris De Vos masterfully demonstrates that St. Augustine would have shed his last drop of blood for the literal historical truth of every word in Genesis 1-11, like all of the other Fathers and Doctors of the Church.
