BDN Headliner Award
Congratulations to City Council President Regina Dunkin, who received the Beloit Daily News Laurence A. Raymer Headliner Award at the Greater Beloit Chamber of Commerce virtual luncheon on June 30th.

Krueger Pool Reopens July 9th with Changes Due to COVID-19
Krueger Municipal Pool will reopen July 9th with safety precautions, including a reservation requirement, physical distancing and capacity limit.

At this time, we cannot accommodate "drop ins" and swim sessions must be made by registering. Beloit residents will receive preference when making registrations.

Fireworks Safety
We know Independence Day will be different this year without the Pops on the Rock Concert and Fireworks, but please stay safe while celebrating the Fourth of July.

Be kind to your neighbors and our fearful pets, and don't use illegal, loud fireworks. Consider using safer alternatives such as glow sticks, confetti poppers or colored streamers.

"Click It or Ticket" Seat Belt Initiative
The City of Beloit Police, Janesville Police and Rock County Sheriff's Office are working together to join law enforcement agencies throughout Wisconsin during the "Click It or Ticket" seat belt campaign from June 22 to July 5, 2020.

Holiday Closures
City offices will be closed on Friday, July 3rd in observance of Independence Day.

The Recycling Drop Off Center and Beloit Public Library will be closed on Saturday, July 4th.
Lane Closure on Portion of Shirland Avenue
Weather permitting, the southern two lanes of Shirland Avenue (east of the Rock River) will be closed from July 6 - 20, 2020 as construction begins on the new downtown stadium.

Once the southern lanes are completed, the northern lanes will be closed for approximately a year. (Anticipated to be closed from July 21, 2020 to June 12, 2021.)

Detour Route
Portion of White Avenue Closed for Concrete Repair Project
White Avenue (State Highway 81) is closed in both directions between Milwaukee Road and Prairie Avenue for concrete repair through July 22, weather permitting. The official detour, including truck traffic, will be using Cranston Road and U.S. Highway 51.

I-39/90 Expansion Project

Last week, we mentioned that the massive girders for the I-43 southbound flyover ramp to I-39/90 southbound would be put in place. Wow...they ARE massive and crews anticipate setting 56 girders this year for that interchange. In case you're wondering, the girders are a Wisconsin product from Veritas Steel in Wausau.
