Donor Spotlight

The Tangirnaq Native Village is pleased to donate to KEF’s upcoming Kruisin for KEF fundraiser in Seward, AK, on Saturday, May 20. Woody Island Tribal Council’s purpose is to promote and ensure the social, economic, political, and cultural needs of our citizens, and promoting access to educational benefits is just one way we strive to accomplish this. Access to scholarships for tribal citizens, shareholders, and descendants fosters self-sufficiency, allows competitive employment, builds future leaders, and enhances local communities.

The Tangirnaq Native Village offers the following programs and services to our tribal citizens and descendants.

  • Scholarships - The Tangirnaq Native Village offers scholarships to eligible citizens through the Margaret “Agnguarta” Roberts Memorial Scholarship in honor of the late Elder Margaret “Agnguarta” Roberts. The Tangirnaq Native Village recognizes and memorializes Margaret’s tireless efforts to showcase Alutiiq culture through language, dance, and wellness initiatives, as well as her advocacy in promoting education, vocational, and career enhancement of our Tribal citizens. Margaret’s lifetime advocacy for the Alutiiq people will live on and help to guide future generations. This scholarship closes on June 1. Eligible applicants are encouraged to apply for the Margaret “Agnguarta” Roberts scholarship here

  • Enrollment Services - Alaska Native descendants of Tangirnaq Native Village Tribal citizens or original Leisnoi, Inc shareholders are encouraged to apply for enrollment through the Tribal Operations office. Membership benefits include access to programs, scholarship opportunities, genealogy, cultural activities, library services, Woody Island historical documents, family ties, and involvement in Tribal Government. Enrollment applications can be found here.

  • Tribal Library - The Woody Island Tribal Library is comprised of over 600 books, media, and reference materials. The Woody Island Tribal Library is located within the Kodiak Area Native Association’s facility at 323 Carolyn Street in Kodiak, Alaska. Tribal citizens are welcome to browse the collection in person by checking in with the front desk or by calling ahead to the Tribal Administrator at (907) 486-9872.
