Gala Ribbon is a fabulous, soft 100% Nylon ribbon that measures 1/4" wide when completely flattened. It's width makes it perfect for braiding on a Kumihimo Disk and it braids nicely on the Marudai as well. Like many of the other "novelty" braiding fibers, Gala is super used as an accent with Kumihimo Rayon Gimp, Petite Satin Cord and Tubular Shimmer Yarn. The variegated and solids colors are both gorgeous and Gala feels so good in your hands. I had the opportunity to be a part of the  Reno Fiber Guild Community Outreach Day. The Reno Fiber Guild is a wonderful group of very talented  fiber  lovers and artists. You name it, they do it (or weave it, or braid it)! A couple  of Saturdays  ago, they held a community outreach program to introduce and expose members of the community, young and old alike, to the many ways we work with fiber. There were many demo looms including a mountain loom, backstrap loom, rigid heddle loom, 8 shaft table loom and an inkle loom. This year they added Kumihimo Braiding to the "hands on" activities.  The public was introduced to this wonderful technique through both foam discs and also the  Marudai.  Along with the actual experience of making braids, there were many examples of completed jewelry pieces and braids to examine.
