CONSOLIDATED APPROPRIATION ACT CONTAINS MANY BENEFIT CHANGES

The Consolidated Appropriations Act contains many benefit changes, all of which are optional on the part of the employer. We know this is coming long after open enrollment has ended for most plans, but employers will want to pay close attention and decide which (if any) they'd like to adopt.

CAN AN EMPLOYER TERMINATE COBRA COVERAGE DURING THE PANDEMIC’S OUTBREAK PERIOD?

This is a very difficult question, since neither the IRS nor the DOL has addressed it directly.

2021 IRS LIMITS ANNOUNCED

The IRS has now released all of the 2021 benefit limits. Earlier in 2020 they also released the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) and Health Savings Account (HSA) limits.

LONG-TERM PART-TIME EMPLOYEE 401(K) ELECTIVE DEFERRALS

IRS Notice 2020-68 addresses how to handle the SECURE Act’s inclusion of long-term part-time employees and their eligibility for 401(k) plans.

LORI KIESS, QKA NAMED DIRECTOR OF RETIREMENT SERVICES

Lori joined the Kushner & Company team on July 1, 2015. She is an industry veteran having brought 26 years of progressive experience in all aspects of retirement benefits account administration and extraordinary client service. At Kushner & Company, Lori previously served her clients as their Account Manager and was dedicated to providing a positive experience for all of her clients and their participants. Prior to joining Kushner & Company, Lori spent 11 years as an Employee Benefits Administrator with Aon Hewitt and 15 years with National City/First of America Bank's Retirement Plan Services Division.
