Dr. Martin Boamah, Dr. Sylvia Deganus, and Erin Pfeiffer showcasing OTIP at the IMNHC Technical Marketplace
Kybele attended and participated in the 2023 International Maternal Newborn Health Conference(IMNHC) conference in Cape Town, South Africa this month. For the first time in over eight years, IMNHC brought more than 1,500 stakeholders from around the world to accelerate solutions to improve maternal and newborn survival and prevent stillbirths.
As part of the conference, Kybele presented research and findings that led to the development and implementation of its Obstetric Triage Implementation Package (OTIP). Kybele also had the opportunity to learn from some of the world's healthcare leaders. Content included:
Discussions on overcoming the stumbling blocks in maternal newborn health.
Launch of the highly-anticipated Every Newborn Action Plan and Strategies for Ending Preventable Maternal Mortality progress report.
Innovative tools and approaches that can meet the unique needs of high-risk mothers and newborns who need it most.
A few weeks ago, a former Kybele intern and current medical student, Elizabeth Colburn, gave an oral presentation in front of over 500 professionals as part of the Gertie Marx competition at the 2023 Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology (SOAP) meeting in New Orleans.
Her presentation, “OTIP- An Innovative Obstetric Implementation Package to Reduce Delays to Improve the Quality of Care to Referral Hospitals in Ghana” won first place!
We are so proud of Elizabeth for her curiosity and dedication to medicine.
CUGH supports academic institutions and partners to improve the well-being of people and the planet through education, research, service, and advocacy. At this conference, there was a wide range of medical and nonmedical disciplines represented that inspired, challenged, taught, and brainstormed ways to improve the health of people and the planet.
