Enough: Discovering Joy Through Simplicity and Generosity

Our sermon series  Enough: Discovering Joy Through Simplicity and Generosity  is in full swing! Last Sunday our topic was “When Dreams Become Nightmares.” We saw how the American Dream contrasts with God’s vision, and how God’s vision brings joy that the American Dream never can.

This Sunday our topic will be “Wisdom and Finance.” We will look at the biblical principles of money management and discover how they apply to our daily lives. I invite you to join us for this informative and practical message. You also will receive several tools that will help you in your own financial planning. See you on Sunday!

October 14 “Wisdom and Finance”
October 21 “Cultivating Contentment”
October 28 “Defined by Generosity”

The first Sunday of the month we do a fellowship meal and all the other Sundays we just hang out and have snacks.

We could really use help with those meals and snacks! If you, your family, your ministry group or Sunday School group would like to sponsor a meal or snacks, please sign up below!

You are welcome to make a monetary donation, provide supplies for a meal, prepare a meal and drop it off or come prepare the meal on Sunday and stay to hang out! Our youth really appreciate the support of our congregation!
Trick or Treating for the Foodbank!

Sunday, October 28th 4:30-5:30pm

All children and youth (and their parents!) are welcome to join us as we trick or treat so others can eat!

Come dressed in your halloween costume! We will park at Negley Elementary and then go door to door in Plum Creek asking for donations for the foodbank! When we're done, we'll come back to the church for some Halloween snacks!
(no regular youth group this day)
Parents: If you are able to stay and help chaperone that would be great! Please bring a wagon if you have one! The more people and the more wagons we have, the more ground we can cover in an hour and the more food we'll collect!
2018 Turkeys Tackling Hunger

Your $30 donation to the Hays County Food Bank can provide a family with a frozen turkey and traditional fixings for Thanksgiving.

Kyle UMC has a goal of raising $300 in order to provide meals for 10 families. For every $10 we raise we will color a feather on the big turkey in the Fellowship Hall!

Please place your donation in the offering plate in an envelope marked "Turkeys Tackling Hunger". Paul Mojica and Jodie Claes can answer any questions you may have.
Be on the lookout for our marker and battery recycling containers in the Fellowship Hall.
Do you feel called to work with Children's Ministry?

We are needing an additional Sunday School teacher for our 1st-5th grade class in the Fall starting in September. Teachers typically trade off Sundays so it is not an every Sunday commitment.

Holy Moly Curriculum will be provided. Just come and have a great time leading our children in Sunday School!
If you'd like to help out with this class or the Toddler-Kinder class, please contact Alissa Villarreal at
Holy Moly Children's Sunday School starts back up this Fall! Join us Sundays at 10:00am in the Family Life Center.

  • More show than tell
Animated Bible story videos use visuals and sound effects, giving kids the opportunity to retell the story in their own words.

  • Bible-centered approach
Kids interact with the Bible in every lesson, following the arc of the biblical narrative.

  • Continue the conversation
Kids walk away from lessons, retelling the stories they’ve learned and taking home completed activities.

KUMC will be participating with a float in the Kyle Founder’s Day Parade October 13th.

Items Needed: Candy- no chocolate, we prefer small hard candies. 6-8 Poster board, 4-6 dark blue plastic table cloths.

Help Needed:
• decorating the float 7:30-9:00 am Oct 13, church parking lot
• people to walk along with the float handing out fliers and candy,
• people to ride on the float and hold up signs.

The float will leave the church parking lot at 9am Saturday, to go line up with other floats for the parade. Hop on at church or find us near Greg-Clarke Park. Parade starts at 10am.

*NEW this year, no hay bales, so people with allergies can ride too!

For details about the float or to provide donations, contact Frankie Bates at (512) 560-6789.

Our Blessings Box is getting utilized by the community, which is great, but that also means that it is getting emptied out quite frequently. Please consider donating non-perishable food items, diapers, personal care items and snack food items (goldfish, raisins, etc) if you are able.

One person from the community told us she visits the Blessings Box at least twice a week and is especially grateful for the diapers and kid friendly foods. She says she stops by on the way to take her kids to the park and can almost always find a snack for them.

If you are a member or simply attend KUMC and would be interested in getting involved with this wonderful group of Young Adults, please contact the Young Adult Representative, Krystyn Jensen at or 512-618-7478.

Youth Sunday School

Spending time in community with other believers is an important part of every student’s spiritual journey. That’s why Bible Studies for Life: Students is designed around a plan to help disciple to students with wisdom, starting with real-life issues and connecting them to God’s Word in an intentional way.
  • Welcome Home (Unit 1): Words are an important part of communication, but they only make up a small portion of what we communicate to others. We want to have welcoming churches and student ministries, but we first have to evaluate what we are really communicating through our behavior. We might be saying the right words, but do visitors truly feel accepted?

  • In this study, we’ll take a look at what it means to show true hospitality to our neighbors.
