Message
“But I Say to You...”

Welcome our New Music Minister, Fred Ratliff

SPRC and Church Council is pleased to introduce our new Music Minister, Fred Ratliff, Fred is a retired public-school music teacher, also with considerable experience as a church music/choir director. Fred is multi-talented: he sings bass with the Wimberley Community Chorus and also plays trombone with the Wimberley Valley Big Band and Community Band. He plays piano, organ, trombone, and string bass.

In his response to our ad, Fred wrote his beautiful Christian testimony that his mother taught him as a very young child: There’s within my heart a melody Jesus whispers sweet and low. Fear not, I am with thee, peace, be still, in all of life’s ebb and flow. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, sweetest name I know, fills my every longing, keeps me singing as I go.”

Please welcome Fred as he joins us on Sunday, February 16. We are further blessed that his wife of 53 years, Annette, will be a part of our choir.

Sharing God's LOVE with our Community
Youth Group
Youth Group put together close to 100 personal care kits and delivered them to the Hays Clothes Closet.

We volunteered at the closet sorting, hanging and organizing clothes for students in need in Hays CISD. We can't wait to go back!
Children's Ministry
Last Sunday, during our Jesus Loves Me Party, the children made Valentines with Bible Verses to put on food to go in our Blessings Box!

We learned that Jesus loves us and wants us to love our neighbors as ourselves.

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.   The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these."

The members of the Living the Questions Adult Sunday School class invite you to join in a study of John Wesley and Methodists, the beliefs and actions that started the group of believers called Methodists.

The class will consist of some readings, some presentations, and an extended dialogue about what it means to us today. Travel with us from Epworth, Lincolnshire in 1703 through time attending Oxford, during ordination in the Anglican church, on a trip to the New World in 1735 to preach in Georgia, and onward to return to England, Aldergate Street, and the continued the development of a group of Methodists, in both England and America, as Methodism was born. Live the Questions with us in the faith journey.

We invite you to join us at 10:00 on Sunday mornings in the Wallace Classroom.

Children's Sunday School- Elementary age

Last January we added bringing offering to Sunday School and this year we are adding Memory Verses!

One of the most important things for young minds is to plant the word of God as early–and as often–as possible. Teaching the Bible to young ones, and then helping them to memorize it verse by verse, plants important spiritual seeds in their minds and hearts that will sprout into faith for years to come!

We will work on one bible verse every 3 weeks with activities and bible stories each Sunday that relate to that verse! Please help your kids practice their verses at home! We will be asking them to recite it at the end of the 3 weeks. We'll have fun prizes for remembering their verse!

Our verse for February:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not
on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5
Join us to make Pretzels for Lent during Sunday School, Sunday March 8th!
How are pretzels and Lent connected? Pretzels were developed as an option to satisfy fasting laws of the time. Eggs, fat, and milk were forbidden during Lent. So, the remaining ingredients that one could use included water, flour, and salt. A young monk baked the first pretzel — making a Lenten bread of water, flour, and salt, forming the dough into the prayer position of the day and baking it as soft bread.
As the story goes, the pretzel is in the shape of arms folded in prayer. The three holes in a pretzel are also said to represent the Holy Trinity. Pretzels can be a wonderful way to teach children the value of prayer during Lent.

Can't help on Sundays? You can support our youth by providing meals and snacks.
