Calendar Planning Meeting TONIGHT

Wednesday, July 24th 6:30pm

A representative from each group or ministry should attend the Calendar Planning Meeting to put events on the church calendar for the year. We will meet at 6:30pm in the Fellowship Hall.

Ministry Fair

On August 4th at 10:00, in between services, the Missions Team is providing breakfast for the church. We want to express our gratitude for the support we get throughout the year, so we're feeding you. 

While you grab breakfast, we'll also be having a Ministry Fair in the Fellowship Hall. All the ministries that KUMC offers will be there, describing the mission and goals of each one.

Our hope through this event is that the congregation will better understand what our outreach is for each committee, and also so that maybe something will resonate with you and you'd like to volunteer in some capacity. We'll be able to discuss opportunities where we're short-handed, or our dreams that require more man power. 

We want you to eat. Come eat. Whether you want to talk to the ministries there or not, we still want to show our gratitude for all the support throughout the year.

Kyle United Methodist Church is partnering with Allied Services of Kyle to help Navigate Homelessness in children and youth in Kyle. Allied Services of Kyle (A.S.K) is a service-driven collaboration of churches, businesses, organizations and individuals that provide short-term relief and create long-term systems of physical, emotional, and spiritual support for citizens in the greater Kyle community.

The Navigating Homelessness Group meets the last Monday of the Month and KUMC is now hosting the meetings in the Family Life Center. The next meeting will be Monday, July 29th at 10:30am in the FLC.

Worship Workshop

Wednesday, August 7, 7 PM

Are you in the band or choir? Do you serve as a liturgist or help set up for church on Sundays? Or are you just interested in having wonderful worship at Kyle UMC?

Join Pastor Stella for a brainstorming session and dinner at the parsonage, 103 Wallace Street, on Wednesday, August 7 at 7 PM. We’ll talk about what makes great worship and discuss ideas for the fall and Christmas seasons. Everyone who wants to be part of the conversation is welcome.

Bible on Tap

Bible on Tap meets at Aviator Pizza and Drafthouse on Kohler's Crossing here in Kyle every Monday night at 6:30pm. Beginning July 29th, they will meet at Wicked Wings in the HEB Shopping Center.

This hour long, weekly bible study will cover a current event topic that provides countless opportunities for discussion and biblical reference! There is nothing to prepare or study ahead of time.

Please join us for this relaxed and fun filled weekly gathering while we explore our current world and how our faith and the bible helps us navigate our daily lives!

Faithful Heart Yoga

The members of the Living the Questions Adult Sunday School class invite you to join in a study of John Wesley and Methodists, the beliefs and actions that started the group of believers called Methodists.

The class will consist of some readings, some presentations, and an extended dialogue about what it means to us today. Travel with us from Epworth, Lincolnshire in 1703 through time attending Oxford, during ordination in the Anglican church, on a trip to the New World in 1735 to preach in Georgia, and onward to return to England, Aldergate Street, and the continued the development of a group of Methodists, in both England and America, as Methodism was born. Live the Questions with us in the faith journey.

Blessing of the Backpacks

Children young and old are invited to bring their backpacks to church during both services on August 11th to receive a blessing and backpack tag for the new school year!

We will have a Back to School party during Sunday School hour at 10:00am.

Third Grade Bible Presentation

We will be presenting bibles to children entering 3rd grade on Sunday, August 25th during both services. If your child is older than 3rd grade but has not yet received a bible, please let Alissa Villarreal know so we can include them. [email protected]

Prayer and Offering in Sunday School

Your children are learning about prayer and offering in their Sunday School classes. We will now be including a time to take offering during Sunday School. In Sunday School, we have talked about why we give (because of what God has given us) as well as our attitude towards giving (God loves a cheerful giver). We also talked about how, by working together, we can accomplish more than working alone.

We encourage you to talk to your child about bringing an offering to Sunday School each week. This is an excellent way to help your child form a good habit of "giving back" to God. A time will be set aside during class each week to pray over and recognize the offerings received. Remember: There is no amount that is too small! :) Your child should have been given an offering bank to collect coins and a coin purse to bring their coins with them to church. If your child didn't receive one, please let us know! 

More than Money

An offering can take more than one form. Teach your child that her good behavior and willingness to serve others is also an acceptable offering. Some kids don’t have money to bring and shouldn’t feel left out and like they are not able to give to God. Give kids notecards and allow them to write down something they can give to God besides money, like volunteering their time or making a pledge to show love to someone who needs it. They can place this card in their offering envelope in place of money. This way everyone can be involved, and kids learn that giving to God involves their whole life, not just their money. 

Summer Sunday School

During the summer, our two elementary Sunday School classes will combine. We'll have one class for Toddler-Preschool and another for K-5th.

This Summer we'll be exploring The Fruits of the Spirit with All in One Bible Fun!

Youth Sunday School

This Summer, we welcome new teachers to our Youth Sunday School-- Shannon and Jon Taylor and Paul Mojica! Thank you for serving our youth!

The Bible Lessons for Youth format of “Explore,” “Focus,” and “Connect” is an intentional learning approach to help teens FOCUS on the original context, EXPLORE how the passage speaks to their lives, and CONNECT with how to live out God’s Word in their daily lives and in the world.

United Methodist Women News

We invite anyone interested in learning more about what we do to in service and to share in God’s love to please come and visit our Circles. We welcome new faces and new ideas. We enjoy working on our ministries and helping support local charities; focusing on women and children’s needs. 

SUMMER CHEER CIRCLE

The Kyle United Methodist Women Cheer Circle will take a break and not meet in the summer. We will start up our regular meetings on Monday, September 9 ^th at 11am in the FLC. Phyllis Kinsey is serving as hostess. We will share lunch and our summer stories then get our Fall activities calendar set up. Come Join Us!!

The Cheer Circle meets on the second Monday of each month at 11am in the Family Life Center. We share a devotional, prayers, fellowship, friendship and we work on our current Missions. A light lunch is served.
