Building affordable homes in
Nez Perce and Asotin Counties since 1991
April 2021
A Message from our Director...
Home is the Key is a Habitat for Humanity awareness campaign held in April. Our goal is to shine a spotlight on the need for decent, affordable shelter in our community and across our country. We hope that once you learn more about our work in helping families create strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter, you will want to get involved as a volunteer and/or donor.
In 2020, amid the COVID-19 global health crisis, unemployment and housing insecurity rates across the U.S. soaring during pandemic. Today, one in seven families pay half or more of their income on their rent or mortgage, often choosing between paying for housing or nutritious food, reliable transportation or healthcare needs. That is unacceptable. Your home shouldn’t cost you anywhere near half your paycheck. Home shouldn’t cost you your health or your children's education.

We hope you will consider supporting L-C Valley Habitat for Humanity during the month of April by making a $1, $5 or $20 donation at our Habitat store, by donating online, or text LCVHOME to 41444.

Construction Update- House #35
Now that the weather is cooperating, we added the asphalt emulsion around the foundation. This process provides a waterproof barrier on the outside to prevent water from penetrating the concrete.
Our next step will involve the installation of a drainage pipe and gravel around the perimeter of the house. These features combine to keep water out of the crawl space.
Thank You for your support...

Volunteer Spotlight...
Irene Everett retired in 2017 after 42 years as a secretary, administrator, and office technician in the construction and oil & gas industries. Although a new transplant to the LC Valley, Irene’s family roots in this area go back more than 150 years.

Born into a military family, Irene was born in England, started school in Mississippi, moved to California in 3rd grade and spent 52 years there before moving to Lewiston in 2018. She’s happy to be living closer to her 90- year old mother.

“I’ve stayed busy since retiring but I think I’m a born administrator. I’m so grateful to have found Habitat for Humanity and this wonderful opportunity.”
To celebrate our 30th anniversary, join the 30 for 30 challenge. Volunteer 30 hours in 2021 or donate $30 to L-C Valley and get a 30-year Anniversary lapel pin.
