Playhouse Project Kickoff!
Giving children a safe place to play and dream
about what home means to them.

We are excited to launch this new fundraiser for L-C Valley Habitat for Humanity. The Playhouse Project has two goals- to give children a safe place to play and to dream about what home means to them and raising money that will go to building full-sized homes for families in need. In 2022, we are building our 35th home in the LC Valley.

Playhouse Project is a unique team-building opportunity that gives small groups a meaningful, creative, and hands-on day of building playhouses that are then donated to local children. Recently, this group from Clearwater Paper helped build our first playhouse, as part of their Playhouse Project.

No experience is necessary! Our staff loves to teach volunteers of any skill level everything they need to know. Whether you are new to a toolbox, an experienced carpenter, or somewhere in between, a volunteer day with the Playhouse Project means learning new skills, having fun, and supporting affordable housing!

Clarkston Affordable Home Repair Program- Nora's Story
Many homeowners struggle with repairs due to age, disability, and lack of income. Nora Carpenter was one such homeowner. Her home had been inspected and she was told she needed a new roof. With her limited income, she knew she could not afford to buy a new roof. She was pointed towards Clarkston Affordable Home Repairs (CAHR) through L-C Valley Habitat for Humanity and filled out an application.

A new roof was not the only thing Nora needed. During Dave’s, our Repair Coordinator, inspection, he found floors damaged from water, unsafe heat, and steep front steps. Nora shared that she had fallen down her front steps multiple times. Dave made sure to address all these safety issues in her repairs.

CAHR built a ramp for Nora. She has not fallen since. She also received a new roof. Her damaged floors were fixed. She will have a new furnace installed. The faulty electricity was fixed. All of these repairs mean that Nora can safely stay in her home for years to come.

Nora is incredibly grateful to LCV HFH and the city of Clarkston, without the Clarkston Affordable Home Repairs program, Nora would still be living in a place where her safety was in danger.
These two lovely ladies came to us through the LDS Service Missionary Program. Both are from the LC Valley and are completing the final months of their mission by serving with L-C Valley Habitat.

Sister Bekah Wilson (purple shirt) is handling volunteer recruitment and working at our ReStore.

Sister Emma Anderson (white shirt) is responsible for social media, areas on the Women Build 2022 project, as well as helping to get our Playhouse Project up and running. Sister Anderson will also be our Pumpkin Patch Field Trip Coordinator.

If you run into either of these ladies, be sure to say hi and thank them for their service. We appreciate all they are doing to support LCV HFH!
