Building affordable homes in
Nez Perce and Asotin Counties since 1991
January 2023
Happy 2023! The new year gives us the chance to explore new goals, gain new skills, and make new connections. All things feel possible! And we’ve got your covered–this year, join L-C Valley Habitat to achieve some fulfilling New Years Resolutions!

Get your steps in or even do some heavy lifting at the build site. We have tasks for people of all abilities and activity levels. Meet your fitness goals while transforming our community! The skills you learn with L-C Valley Habitat are not only deeply rewarding, they’re practical and useful in real life.

You don’t need any prior experience to get started–our crew leaders are as friendly as they are knowledgeable! Volunteering is one of the most meaningful resolutions you can make. Giving back won’t only transform the lives of others, it will benefit your own life as well. Whether you want to volunteer, donate, or cheer on from the sidelines, you can help families in our community build independence through affordable homeownership.

Happy New Year, and whatever your goals for 2023, we’re cheering you on!

Outgoing Board Members
Sunshine Siebert
Sunshine joined our board in 2017. She has served all 4 positions of the Executive Board and supported the organization during transitions of Executive Directors during her six years of service.

Sunshine also serves as the Qualified Loan Officer, which helps select and support new and existing Habitat Homeowners. Sunshine is the Relationship Manager at Zions Bank in Lewiston and Moscow.
"Sunshine Seibert was my inspiration and “mentor” on the board from my inception. She taught me what being on a board looked like and the responsibilities that we as board members needed to adhere to. She brought her knowledge of retail and banking experience and has assisted multiple families with the challenges of homeownership."- Dave Clark, Board Chair (pictured)
Traci Birdsell
Traci signed on to our board in 2020. She is the Associate Dean of Student Success at Lewis-Clark State College where she has worked for 23 years. Traci was drawn to Habitat due to our goal of affordable housing and making a difference in the community.

She served on the board as Secretary and Vice Chair as well as on the Homeowner Selection and Homeowner Support Committees. Traci enjoyed her time on the board, especially developing relationships with other board members, employees, volunteers, and homeowners.
"Traci Birdsell has been instrumental in many aspects of board relations! She worked to set up support group for current habitat homeowners. She shared tips how to become more energy efficient and save money. She was a strong leader and vice president…and I know I can count on Traci if I ever need anything related to board duties."- Dave Clark, Board Chair (pictured)
Becka Picchena
Becka join our Board of Directors in 2020. Her great expertise in real estate has provided valuable insight to our Site Selection committee and during property-related transactions. Becka is a co-owner and associate broker at River Cities Real Estate.

Becka Picchena brought her knowledge of being on boards and working in real estate to further our cause, assisting us by identifying properties that we may be able to purchase to expand our real estate assets in order to continue building homes.
"We appreciate her expertise and know she will advocate for us any chance she gets. Becka was essential in researching our already owned property and was able to provide valuable information regarding it. We are thankful she will continue as part of the L-C Valley Habitat family!"- Dave Clark, Board Chair (pictured).
Colvin Home Construction Update
Our 35th Habitat home is now dried-in. Our crew of dedicated volunteers and our Construction Manager, Dennis, fought the cold to ensure the trusses were finished and the entire house was sheeted before we got more snow. This will allow us to continue work on the interior of the house throughout the winter.

We are always seeking additional volunteers for all stages of construction. If you are interested in joining us on the build site, click here or call our office at 509-758-7396.
Clarkston Affordable Home Repair (CAHR) Update
Dangerous front step
New ramp and handrail
One of our early projects was done for Nora. Her home required many critical repairs including a new roof and gutters, tree trimming, floor reinforcement, leaking plumbing, and a dangerous front porch. Nora told us "The ramp was a Godsend. I had fallen off of that step so many times and hurt myself. They made the ramp big enough so that it came all the way up to my door and added a handrail."

On many of our projects, we coordinate with Community Action Partnership for other critical repairs. In this case, we were able to ensure Nora got a new gas furnace and electrical repairs. At this time, we are in the process of completing our final projects around Clarkston. We have reached the end of our grant funding for the CAHR program and are no longer taking applications.
Grateful for our CHAR program partners:
Welcome Tenille Taylor
to our Board of Directors
I'm a personal banker of 6 years at WaFd Bank. My husband and I have been happily married for 3 years and we have a 2 year old son.

I love volunteering because it allows me to step outside of my comfort zone and meet new people. It just makes you feel good knowing you are doing a good thing for people less fortunate. I'm so excited to be a board member and treasurer for Habitat for Humanity!!!
Members of the L-C Valley Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors commit to a 3-year term of service with the option to renew for a second term. We invite individuals from a wide variety of fields to serve as a way to broaden the perspective of our guiding body. If you are interested in a seat on our Board of Directors or on one of our many committees, please reach out to Deb at 208-792-7568 or director@lewisclarkhabitat.org.
