Building affordable homes in
Nez Perce and Asotin Counties since 1991
July 2022
Habitat home #35 is under construction!
Affordable homeownership is the cornerstone of L-C Valley Habitat’s work. Over the last 31 years, our affordable homeownership program has provided many local, low-income families with the life-changing opportunity to purchase a home and enjoy the added benefits that homeownership can provide. These benefits, which include greater economic stability, safety, and security, impact entire households.
Did you know that children of low-income homeowners are 11% more likely to graduate from high school and are 4.5% more likely to complete post-secondary education than children of low-income renters (Economic Policy Review)? An additional benefit is that homeowners can leverage their housing wealth to finance post-secondary education for their children. For lower- and moderate-income households, a $10,000 increase in housing wealth raises the probability of college attendance by 14%. (Journal of Labor Economics). These examples are only two of the many benefits owning a home offers.

We would like to take this opportunity to focus on the stability and value that owning a home brings to families, communities, and neighborhoods across America.
Join us in celebrating with our new Habitat family, the Colvins, who will work along side construction volunteers in 2022.

Construction Update
Construction Manager, Dennis, with volunteers Courtney S. and Johnathan H.
Construction is under way! These three gentleman spent July 1st at the build site for Habitat House #35 installing the plastic vapor barrier in the crawl space and setting the sill plate. The next step is insulating the crawl space. After that, we look forward to working with our Women Build 2022 sponsors as we move into other stages of construction.

Are you interested in volunteering on our construction site? We are always looking for individuals who can lend a hand. Want more information or to sign up, reach out to us at or call 509.758.7396.
Women Build 2022
L-C Valley Habitat for Humanity Women Build 2022(WB) is a Habitat for Humanity initiative designed to engage, educate, and empower women to transform lives and strengthen communities by providing safe and affordable homes for families in need. We are excited to have our first ever Women Build 2022 in the L-C Valley! Women Build 2022 will be a hands-on activity with ample opportunities for on-site learning.

Did you know that women make up over 50% of volunteers and homeowners with Habitat for Humanity, nationwide, but they account for less than 15% of workers on the construction site. This is due mainly to lack of training. Women Build addresses this by providing a safe place for you to learn and grow construction skills. No prior knowledge is necessary to join a Women Build day,
Construction is starting SOON! Interested in being a sponsor or joining us on the build? Click on the above photo for more information about WB 2022 and how to register for a build day.
