Habitat Highlights
From the Board President

If you blinked, you may have missed it. In recent months, the L-C Valley Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors has more than doubled in size! For someone who has served on the board for the last 5 years, it has come as quite a relief.

The Board of Directors main objective has always been to protect and lead the organization toward a common goal of building affordable housing for low-income families. It would be no stretch of the imagination to say that has come with some difficulties in the past few years. A depleted board, extended Executive Director search, change in Habitat Store management, and pandemic of epic proportions are just a few of the challenges we’ve faced in recent times while trying to keep the affiliate on course. Now with the added support of community-minded individuals, our board is stronger and more diverse thtn ever and The L-C Valley Habitat organization looks forward to a bright future!

Folks like Randy Martin (retired LCSC Business Chair), Rick Tousley (retired school educator and administrator), Traci Birdsell (LCSC TRIO Program) Mike Moscrip (Umpqua Bank) and Lori Gaskill (Lewiston Tribune) have strong ties to the community and a heart for not-for-profit organizations. Along with our Executive Director, these 5 individuals join a group of dedicated business leaders with a passion for our mission, to lead L-C Valley Habitat into the next chapter of our organization.

I look forward to seeing the unique talents our new members will bring to our organization. I’d invite you to help me welcome our new board members and wave hello when you see them in our community. If you are interested in knowing more about our board, or have an interest in serving on one of our many committees, I’d encourage you to visit our website at l-cvalleyhabitat.org.

Best regards,
President, L-C Valley Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors
Welcome to the Board of Directors
Rick Tousley
Randy Martin
A school teacher and administrator for 37 years, Rick Tousley dedicated his energy to guiding students on the road to lifelong learning. Lifelong learning is his own personal goal, too. Since retiring, Rick has served on Lewiston City Planning and Zoning, has served his church in various capacities, has performed with the Lewiston Civic Theatre, and has learned more than he thought he wanted to know about home repair.

He considers himself lucky that he and his wife Cheryl can travel some and camp, and that their adult children and their families live in the LC Valley.
Randy grew up in Pierce, Idaho and upon graduation he served 20 years in the United States Air Force. In 2000, Randy became the Director of Work Force Training at Lewis-Clark State College. In 2002, he returned to teaching and assumed the role as Chair of the Business Division. He retired in 2016 as an Associate Professor of Business.

In the LC Valley, Randy has served as a board member/president for a number of local nonprofits, including the Lewis-Clark Economic Development Association and Tri-State Hospital Foundation. He is a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of the Elks Lodge. Randy and his wife Kathy just celebrated their 48 th wedding anniversary.

THANK-YOU
LC VALLEY BUSINESS FOR YOUR IN-KIND DONATIONS
Quality Inn by Choice Hotels in Clarkston is going thru a remodel and Habitat for Humanity is happy to be able to help. They have been an ongoing donor for the past few months as the remodel progresses.

We are receiving various types of furniture, as well as gently used mattresses. These items are greatly appreciated by us and the people that are now enjoying them!
Even though Moneysaver is leaving the valley, they remembered Habitat by donating items from their building. We really appreciate the Moneysaver for thinking of us and we’re glad we could be there to help out.
