Join with Rabbi Barry Silver and Andy Susman for this special time, a discussion about the Torah and the weekly parsha for the upcoming Shabbat: Leviticus BECHUKOTAI, which translates to "in my laws". This sedra relates to the benefits of following the laws and the punishments for not following the laws; one benefit is the receipt of rain to nourish the crops.
 
We look forward to your joining us for this discussion and this special time to gain some deeper meaning and insight into the Torah TOGETHER with Rabbi Barry and Andy. We are very fortunate to have Andy Susman joining with us to provide his insight along with "a Touch of Music" and his musical interpretation!

For those who plan to attend, The Carlisle provides an Oneg Shabbat following our service. This is a time to schmooze, catch up with others, and enjoy challah, wine, and more. PARKING is limited at The Carlisle, so please car-pool and come early. There is additional parking around the building on all sides.

26th ANNUAL FESTIVAL YACHAD - ISRAELI DANCE FESTIVAL
Sunday, MAY 29 at 7:00 pm ET
Broward Center for the Performing Arts
201 SW 5th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale
Tickets $15 per person (regularly $35 + fees)
 
Festival Yachad is the largest Israeli Dance Festival in the country. It brings a lot of excitement! Breathtaking choreographies, colorful costumes, original soundtracks, and over 400 dancers on stage, celebrating "Jerusalem" as this year's theme! Joining with local dancers are 100 dancers from Brazil, Mexico, Panama, and Israel!

Helene Weiss is able to procure front of the Orchestra seating for this show at a price of $15 per seat (normally, $35 plus fees). You will truly love every minute of this special show! Food and drink are available for purchase in the lobby.

JEWISH FEDERATION OF SOUTH PALM BEACH COUNTY presents the following programming:

NATIONAL JEWISH COMMUNITY OBSERVANCE OF MEMORIAL DAY

May is Jewish American Heritage Month, and, as part of our communal celebration of our history, we will take time on the evening of Memorial Day to honor those Jewish soldiers who lost their lives in service to our country. This year, we will remember the multi-generational service and sacrifice of the Seixas Family, listen to the stories of Jewish Gold Star Families, and enjoy a performance by the United States Naval Academy Glee Club.

Join us to learn more about the different avenues for support for Ukrainians entering the U.S. that HIAS is designing, in partnership with other national Jewish and refugee agencies. Join us for a facilitated session of the HIAS Book and Film Club to discuss the book Refugee High: Coming of Age in America by Elly Fishman. This book follows the 2017–18 school year at Sullivan High, a Chicago high school that has one of the highest proportions of refugees of any school in the nation. It chronicles students, teachers, and administrators navigating everyday challenges facing many urban schools and teenagers as well as the complicated circumstances and unique education needs of refugee and immigrant children.

Dancers around the world are uniting to provide emergency support and essential items for the innocent families caught in the Ukrainian invasion. We can help make a huge difference to those in peril. The money raised will all go to the Ukrainians on the ground of the besieged country. Your donations will make an immediate impact on refugee & humanitarian aid efforts. It will also help organize shipments of relief supplies to refugee sites in Ukraine’s neighboring countries: Poland, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia & Moldova.

L'Dor Va-Dor supports Ukraine. Our thoughts and prayers remain with those in Ukraine and Eastern Europe during these devastating and extremely challenging times.

Please consider donating to one of the Ukraine sites to provide assistance and/or working with HIAS to provide assistance to new Ukrainian refugees in U.S.

We will meet this Friday, May 27th at The Carlisle Palm Beach at 7:00 pm for our Shabbat service, then starting on Friday, June 3rd, we will meet at The Mariposa for Shabbat at 7:30 pm. Note regarding parking and entry at The Mariposa: we will now be able to park outside of the auditorium and enter through the outside doors directly into the auditorium, saving many steps in the parking area and within the hallways in this senior living center! We will provide new improved directions prior to our June 3rd service date for all who may be able to join us for our celebration of Shabbat, the holiday of Shavuot (the receiving of the Torah), and Veterans. We will continue providing virtual solutions for those unable to attend in person.
