What to Do After an Injury
Matt Rankin

If you have suffered a personal injury there are some important things you should and shouldn't do. Your first step, after getting treated for your injuries, of course, is to consult with a personal injury lawyer. For example, if you talk to an insurance adjuster, everything you say can be used against you. Above all, don’t consent to a recorded interview when the insurance adjuster asks for it. The law does not require you to offer a recorded statement. Finally, don't sign a release so the insurance company can “gather the necessary information for processing.”

The bottom line is, don't talk to an insurance adjuster or consent to a recorded interview or sign anything until after you've consulted a personal injury attorney. The initial consultation is free, so take advantage of this valuable service before anyone takes advantage of you.
