Recent Victories: Our Firm Has Recovered Over $2 Million from Insurance Carriers for Our Clients Last Month

We hope you had a nice Thanksgiving and that you and your families are doing well. Our litigation practice is active and growing. We recently obtained the following victories for our clients:

  • Major COVID-19 Business Interruption Insurance Victory. We obtained a key victory for the Holiday Inn Express in Old Town, San Diego. Earlier in 2020, we filed a lawsuit on behalf of the hotel after their insurance carrier, Sequioa Insurance Company, acted in bad faith by denying their claim for lost business income arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic. Sequoia filed a demurrer, asking the court to dismiss the lawsuit, and we filed a detailed opposition. On September 30, 2020, the San Diego Superior Court correctly overruled Sequoia's demurrer, allowing our case to proceed. This is a major victory for our client as some courts have unfortunately dismissed these cases in other jurisdictions. Our firm is handling several other cases on behalf of insureds against insurance carriers for business income coverage arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • $1.7 Million Obtained for Our Client. This past month, we were retained to help protect a company's rights in a major dispute with its insurance carrier. The carrier initially denied the claim but ultimately ended up paying more than $1.7 million in connection with the claim.

  • Over $220,000 Recovered for Our Client. We recently helped resolve a major insurance dispute on behalf of a construction building contractor. Our client's claim was initially denied by the insurance carrier, but our firm got involved, and the carrier ultimately agreed to pay over $220,000 to settle the claim.

  • Favorable Settlement for Wrongfully Terminated Employee. We recently settled a major employment dispute for an employee who had been wrongfully terminated. We entered into a satisfactory and confidential settlement on behalf of our client.

  • Fighting to Keep Churches Open. Additionally, we continue to fight to protect places of worship and the faithful from unconstitutional public health orders. More information is below.
