We are happy to see that State and County leaders are allowing for the safe and modified re-opening of some parts of the economy. This is a sign of hope for a pathway forward.
Governor Gavin Newsom, announced that "Phase 2" of the four-stage plan to lift portions of the "Stay at Home" Order would begin on Friday, May 8th. This will allow for some brick and mortar locations such as, bookstores, music stores, toy stores, florists, and sporting goods locations to reopen for pickup services and modified work.
Locally, counties choosing to reopen and exceed State plans will have to submit a detailed "Containment Plan" related to healthcare readiness and accessibility. Los Angeles County and the City of Los Angeles will be mirroring the State's directive by reopening Phase 2 businesses on Friday, as well.
We are encouraged by this step and respect the balance to keep the economy moving while ensuring safety for all of our State's residents. BIA will continue working to keep you up to date on what actions are taken to combat COVID-19 and how those changes affect our industry.
