VICTORY ALERT: South Pasadena Climate Action Plan Includes BIA Suggestions
On Wednesday, BIA testified against the City's Climate Action Plan (CAP). BIA's comments were based on concerns related to reduced energy options, added regulatory hurdles and potentially increased fees. While the CAP is an aspirational document, we are glad to see that our comments related to the allowance of natural gas in residential development were preserved.
HCD Hosts CalGreen Building Standards Code Webinar
The California Building Industry Association (CBIA) shared the following message: The Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) held a virtual workshop to review proposed changes to the CA Green Building Standards. The Air Resources Board (ARB) asked HCD to ramp up the stringency of the “Electric Vehicle-ready” standards for multifamily construction, and withdraw a proposal that would have mandated all-electric construction for new homes and apartments starting January 1, 2023. This is the beginning process of amending the Code, effective in 2021.
