Regulate to Educate
Presented by: Katie Sample, Nabiha Mujahid, Justin Sims
9:00 AM - 2:30 PM
| Participants will learn quick and easy sensory strategies that can be done throughout the school day. Participants will be able to educate students on how to recognize their state of alertness and build strategies to regulate their sensory system. These strategies will build a student's success rate to access the general curriculum, allow for successful socialization, improve mindfulness, increase self motivation, improve attention, and decrease problematic behaviors. This presentation is relevant for regular, inclusion, and special educators as these strategies follow a universal design for learning (UDL) approach. Participants will learn both calming and alerting strategies that can be incorporated in a classroom routine. The second half of the training will focus on making tools to promote the strategies learned. |
