LA Animal Services Debuts New Online Pet Search Function Making It Easier to Add a New Furry Friend to Your Family
Now Foster Pets Who are Available for Adoption will Appear on the LAAS Website
Los Angeles, May 13, 2020 — LA Animal Services is proud to announce a new pet search function on the LA Animal Services website, which now includes our furry four-legged friends who are in foster care – providing a more extensive listing of all our amazing adoptable animals.

Prior to the new pet search, only shelter guests in our Animal Services Centers were viewable on our site. The addition of the pets in foster care now allows the public to see animals currently in foster who are also available for adoption.
“There are more than 300+ pets currently staying with foster families,” said Brenda Barnette, LA Animal Services General Manager. “When animals are in foster, we are able to gain valuable information about these wonderful animals from their foster families, like whether these pets enjoy being with children, other dogs or cats in the home as well as their personalities and activity levels – would they make great running and hiking partners or prefer to hang out and binge watch with owners on the latest shows. These kinds of insights are helpful to know when looking to place our companion animals with permanent families.”
If you would like to adopt pets currently with foster families:
  • Visit http://laanimalservices.com/pet-search and identify the pet you would like to adopt, call 888-452-7381 with the Animal ID number or A# number (example: A1234567), and we will share information that we have with you about the animal.

  • If the animal is in foster care, an LA Animal Services staff member will arrange for a meeting at the designated Animal Services Center or a virtual (video) meeting with the interested party (person interested in adopting) and the foster family of the animal in question, where the potential adopter can find out more about the animal, and see how the pet interacts with the foster family.

  • If the interested party would like to proceed with the adoption, an LA Animal Services staff member will facilitate the adoption process, which includes completing all the necessary adoption paperwork, collection of adoption fees, and then schedule an in-person appointment for the interested party to come to the designated Animal Services Center to meet and pick-up their new animal companion.
If you would like to adopt pets who are in our Animal Services Centers :
  • If you want to move forward with the paperwork to adopt an animal that is located at one of our Animal Services Centers, we will obtain all information to complete the paperwork for adoption over the phone and schedule a pick-up appointment.

  • During the appointment, staff will be able to show you the selected animal. Due to the City order in response to COVID-19, we have a directive to not have more than 10 people assembled at one time in our facility, and that includes staff.

  • To comply with social distancing requirements, we will be scheduling appointments daily at our four LA Animal Services Centers from 11am to 4pm.
