LA Animal Services Expands Appointment Hours
Los Angeles, June 1, 2021 – Starting today, LA Animal Services will be expanding appointment hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays. Centers will remain closed on Mondays.
Appointments will now be scheduled for “meet and greets” in which interested adopters may visit our centers to meet with available animals. Animals will be available to adopt on a first-come, first-serve basis.

LA Animal Services will be honoring prior appointments made for a particular animal up until June 14th.

Adopt a Pet

If you would like to adopt a pet, please follow these steps:

  • Call 888-452-7381 to make an appointment.
  • Potential adopters will be provided an appointment date and time, and will be encouraged to view available animals on our website at laanimalservices.com/adopt.
  • Upon arrival for the appointment, staff and volunteers will review the animal(s) the adopter has in mind, and will provide all available information on the animals.
  • If you still wish to meet the animal(s) you are interested in adopting, you will be escorted to a play yard or a designated area to meet the animal(s).
  • To follow COVID-19 safety protocols, social distancing will be observed and face coverings will be required during your scheduled appointment.
Foster a Pet

If you are unable to adopt a pet, please consider fostering one of our amazing dogs, cats, or kittens from our Centers -- giving them a staycation and break from kennel life. You can foster a dog for a day, to a week, to up to three months. When fostering a cat, we recommend fostering a feline friend for a minimum of two weeks.Fostering an animal companion also offers additional opportunities for dogs and cats ready for adoption to meet potential adopters during outings in and around their neighborhoods.

Please follow these steps if you would like to foster a pet:

  • Visit laanimalservices.com/adopt and identify an animal you would like to foster.
  • Email the volunteer liaison at ani.volunteers@lacity.org with your completed foster application (if you have not fostered before), a picture of your government-issued identification with photo (i.e., driver’s license), and the Animal ID number(s) of the pets you want to meet.
  • We will call you once your application is reviewed to schedule an appointment.
