and Best Friends Animal Society

Los Angeles, May 20, 2022 –  This weekend at LA Animal Services, Bounty Paper Towels is partnering with Best Friends Animal Society to help pets find new homes across the country. To encourage the community to open their hearts and homes to a new furry friend, LA Animal Services will be offering reduced adoption fees on Friday, May 20 through Sunday, May 22. Adoption fees for all dogs will be $51 (not including license) and $75 for puppies. The adoption fees for cats and kittens will be waived thanks to a generous grant from the ASPCA.

“Our six locations are at capacity with medium- and larger-sized dogs who are currently the most overlooked group of pets in our shelter in need of finding new homes,” says Annette Ramirez, Interim General Manager for LA Animal Services. “We are asking the community to open their hearts and homes to these amazing animal companions who are ready to be a part of their family.”

For every pet Bounty helps get adopted, it can save two lives; the pet who goes home and the one who now has space to come to LA Animal Services.

“We appreciate the continued partnership and support from Best Friends Animal Society who share in our lifesaving mission, and are grateful for sponsors like Bounty who help make these adoption events possible that give pets a second chance at life,” says Ramirez.

Currently, there are 100,000 more pets awaiting homes at shelters across the country than at this time last year due to recent problems such as staffing shortages, limited shelter hours, decreased volunteers, and reduced adoption events.

That’s why the promotion could not have come at a better time, according to Julie Castle, CEO of Best Friends Animal Society. "May is one of the highest intake months for animal shelters around the country. The sad truth is that shelters get overcrowded when pets aren’t adopted quickly enough and this can put lives at risk," says Castle. "That’s why we’re grateful that Bounty wanted to quickly come to the rescue."

Bounty was happy to assist. “As every pet parent knows, pet messes are no ordinary messes, which is why you shouldn’t use an ordinary paper towel.” says Janette Yauch, Vice President, Bounty. “We are honored to join Best Friends Animal Society to help save the lives of pets while helping pet parents everywhere.”

If you are unable to adopt, please consider fostering one of the canine companions or feline friends in our Centers to give these dogs and cats a break from kennel life. View the pets available for fostering or adoption.
