LA Animal Services and Pet Care Foundation to Host Basic Black Adoption Event 
Los Angeles, July 16, 2021 – The Paula Kent Meehan Pet Care Foundation will sponsor the Basic Black adoption event from Saturday, July 17 through Sunday, July 18. Find your new furry friend by visiting laanimalservices.com and view our available cats, kittens, and dogs. During the Basic Black adoption event, the adoption fees for dogs with primarily black fur will be reduced by $50. Adoption fees for cats will be waived by the Paula Kent Meehan Pet Care Foundation, and adoption fees for kittens will be waived through a generous grant from the ASPCA.

“Summer is a busy time for shelters, so we encourage people looking to add a new pet to their family to take advantage of this summer promotion,” said Bill Crowe, Executive Director of Pet Care Foundation.

“We are grateful for the support The Paula Kent Meehan Pet Care Foundation provides to the pets in our care in helping them find permanent homes with these adoption events, their TV show, and their grooming services,” said Dana Brown, Interim General Manager for LA Animal Services.

I Want to Adopt a Specific Pet

If you would like to adopt a pet, please follow these steps:

  • Visit laanimalservices.com/adopt and identify an animal you would like to adopt.
  • Call 888-452-7381 with the Animal ID number or A# (example: A1234567).
  • LA Animal Services will share all the information available on that animal.
  • If you’re interested in moving forward with the adoption, LA Animal Services will take your information and schedule a pick-up appointment.
  • During the appointment, staff will introduce you to your selected animal.
  • To follow COVID-19 safety protocols, social distancing will be observed and face coverings will be required during your scheduled appointment.

I Want to Visit an Animal Services Center to Meet Pets Available for Adoption

If you would like to adopt a pet by by visiting one of our centers to meet animals who are available for adoption, please follow these steps:

  • Call 888-452-7381 to make an appointment.
  • Potential adopters will be provided a date and time for their visit to one of our Centers, and will be encouraged to view available animals on our website at laanimalservices.com/adopt prior to coming to their appointment.
  • Upon arrival for the appointment, staff and volunteers will guide the adopter through the kennels to view animals available for adoption.
  • If there is a pet you are interested in adopting, our staff or a volunteer will provide you with all available information on the animal, and you will be escorted to a designated area so you can get acquainted with the animal(s). 
  • To follow COVID-19 safety protocols, social distancing will be observed and face coverings will be required during your scheduled appointment.
